We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Taz Garcia a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Taz, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
Honestly, it comes from how I grew up through war, pushed through high-level sports, corporate life, and the grind of carving out a creative career with no guarantees. I’ve seen firsthand how resilience and purpose can transform pain or fear into passion. Because of that, I choose to move through life with hope, gratitude, and belief in what’s possible for myself and for others.
My martial arts training has kept me mentally strong, focused, and able to tune out noise or negative energy. I was also shaped by the powerful example of my mother and grandmother, whose strength and positivity taught me early on that impossible is nothing.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m an actor, director, author and educator focused on creating high-impact stories that blend film, martial arts, and intense character work. What drives me is the chance to inspire people through movement, discipline, and authenticity. I started in sports, moved through the corporate world, and rebuilt everything around the arts, which is why my brand is all about resilience, creativity, and pushing past limits.
One of my biggest goals, as an 80s baby, is to help bring back the era of true 80s action heroes. I want to revive that energy, that grit, and that larger-than-life spirit in modern filmmaking without having to be a superhero.
Alongside my film work, I coach actors, entrepreneurs, and athletes around the world, helping them build confidence and perform at their highest level. My book, Manifest It: The Ripple Effect, has recently launched, with international workshops ahead and several film projects in development. I’m energized by what’s next and focused on creating work that hits hard and pushes people to level up.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Resilience, discipline, and adaptability. Resilience carried me through the hard moments. Discipline built my craft and my body, especially on the days motivation disappeared. Adaptability opened doors I never planned for. If you’re starting out, embrace the challenge, build daily habits that push you forward, stay curious, and don’t be afraid to carve your own path. These traits will take you farther than talent ever will.

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?
I would go all in on what I love while giving back through charity. I want to create, inspire, and leave a legacy that empowers the next generation.
