We recently connected with Tazzie H and have shared our conversation below.
Tazzie , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Being in the music industry , it definitely takes a huge level of confidence in yourself. Growing up my family knew this so being shy and scared to perform in front of people was not an option. One thing my family did that really helped me build confidence to be open and comfortable in front of people was having me and my cousins perform at family events and perform for our slice of pizza at the pizza parties. Without even noticing that gave me a skill I’ll use the rest of my life. By the way my family wasn’t here for bad performances, if you was not giving a good performance and not truly entertaining they will definitely let you know no matter how you felt. That taught me about constructive criticism how to use what I can from it and throw the rest out to build the self-esteem I have today.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Being an independent recording artist I spend a lot of time in the studio creating new music, but it’s also my responsibility to find the resources and opportunities needed to move the brand forward. I’ve really been working on budgeting and finding the best investments to better help my career. Seeking sponsorships and partnerships for upcoming events, concerts and day parties to help spread the word to potential fans and clients. What’s most exciting about being’s an artist is you never know who would like it , and I find it’s really amazing creating music that’s relatable and make you feel good. Being able to change the mood of an entire crowd is amazing to me with sound that will last forever , and that’s what makes what I so special.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
One thing that was really impactful to my journey is knowing that my network is my net worth. Having that drive to get out there and connect with people made such a difference in opening doors I never thought would be possible to get in and definitely played a huge role in my journey today. Second, is building a level of discipline. Knowing what you want and going for it no matter how difficult it may seem. Learning this skill really got a lot of projects done and pushed me to continue to move forward with sharing my art to my fans, who expect it and also share my story to those who may need it or could relate.
Lastly, is always being a student to life. There is always something new to learn no matter what field you’re in. I feel it’s extremely important to never be to content and to always look at new ways to get work did more efficiently. Things change everyday, the more you can stay on top of fresh knowledge the better.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I am always looking to collaborate with other artists, brands and businesses to help with getting their establishment seen and heard. Also give me the opportunity to present my brand to new audiences and potential supporters , so it’s always a win. If you are interested in collaborating feel free to email me : [email protected] or through DM on social media @TazzieH. Look forward to hearing for you !
