Meet TBJ Ohab

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful TBJ Ohab. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with TBJ below.

Hi TBJ, thank you so much for making time for us today. Let’s jump right into a question so many in our community are looking for answers to – how to overcome creativity blocks, writer’s block, etc. We’d love to hear your thoughts or any advice you might have.
Hi!

Creativity block is something that every creative experience once in a while. For me, this is something I am very familiar with and every time I’ve always overcome it by doing something that helps ease the mind. Sometimes I listen to lots of songs I find interesting. Other times I watch movies/documentaries. I love to cook because I find it very relaxing & therapeutic and that is another means for me to combat creative blocks.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am Ohab Tochukwu Bernard Johnbosco, known as Ohab TBJ, a Nigerian visual artist and illustrator who masterfully incorporates intricate lines, patterns, and sometimes Ankara fabric-inspired designs in his artwork. My creations have graced exhibitions across the USA and various African regions. My unique style mesmerizes viewers, resonates while fostering a deeper appreciation for the rich cultural elements present in my work. I like to think that my captivating pieces can transform any setting, infusing it with vibrancy and a strong cultural identity.

I recently worked on an indie movie cover/illustrations produced by Kendrick Keener titled “THE EXCEEDINGLY TALL TALE AND ACCOUNT OF BAD MAN BROWN” alongside other amazing artists which I am super excited about and I can’t wait for the world to see it! 🙂

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
For me it’s a mantra that consist of 13 words which I hold dear to heart: Healing. Growing. Glowing. Releasing. Accepting, Learning. Unlearning. Relearning. Evolving. Everyday, in every way.

For any young creative reading this; my advice is that you stay true to your craft, avoid the noise and remember that Art is subjective. There’s more than enough room & bread to go round for every artist.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Yes!!! I am looking forward to collaborate with so many artists, writers, producers, brands and all. To mention a couple, I would love to collaborate with the amazing Uzo Njoku & Akwaeke Emezi. 🙂

I am a huge of Adidas likewise Nike and collaborating with any these brands someday would be a dream come true.
