Ted, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

by not know my purpose – so I would ask people about theirs. then i realized – thats my purpose. talking to people and entertaining

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m Ted Zhar, the creator of the viral “What Do You Do for a Living?” videos, and I’m thrilled to share my story with you! My journey began with a simple desire to highlight the incredible diversity of careers and the unique stories behind them. Each video is an opportunity to showcase people’s passions and the often-unexpected paths they take in their professional lives.

What excites me most about this project is the connection it fosters among viewers. It’s amazing to see how these videos resonate with people, sparking conversations and inspiring others to think about their own journeys. The comments and stories I receive from viewers are incredibly rewarding—they remind me of the power of sharing our experiences.

Looking ahead, I’m working on expanding the series to include even more voices and perspectives. I’m also exploring live events where we can bring people together to share their stories in person. I believe that every person has a unique narrative worth telling, and I’m committed to amplifying those voices in creative ways. Stay tuned for what’s next—I can’t wait to share more!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

In my experience, the most important characteristics needed for any bold journey are a healthy amount of self-confidence, the gift of gab, and a sense of humor. If someone is a master communicator, can make people laugh, and isn’t afraid to go after what they want, their journey will certainly be fruitful. There are of course others but these three are top of the list for me.

Take the leap of faith. Jump into the deep end – then learn how to swim.
