We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tee Recx a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Tee, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
Living and witnessing the world as it truly is has been a profound source of resilience for me within God’s will. Every experience, every challenge, and every moment of triumph has shaped the strength and fortitude that define who I am today.
As I navigate through the complexities of life, I have come to understand that resilience is not just a quality I possess; it is a skill I have honed through the school of hard knocks. From the highs of success to the lows of failure, I have learned to adapt, persevere, and rise above the obstacles that come my way.
Seeing the world in all its rawness and reality has been both enlightening and challenging. I have witnessed the beauty and the brutality, the kindness and the cruelty, and through it all, I have emerged with a resilience that is rooted in the truth of what life truly entails.
The struggles I have faced, the setbacks I have encountered, and the hardships I have endured have all been lessons in resilience. They have taught me to embrace adversity, to find strength in vulnerability, and to keep moving forward no matter how tough the journey may be.
Through the lens of life’s realities, I have learned that resilience is not just about bouncing back from failure; it is about growing, evolving, and becoming stronger in the face of adversity. It is about finding the courage to confront the world as it is and to transform challenges into opportunities for growth.
In a world that can be unpredictable and unforgiving, my resilience is a testament to my inner strength, my resilience, and my unwavering belief that I have the power to overcome any obstacle that comes my way. It is a reminder that no matter what life throws at me, I have the resilience to face it head-on and emerge victorious.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
The journey began in November 2011 after doing some radio hosting work for a company in New Jersey. The vision came upon for me to start my own podcast show titled “The Live By Terrence Show”. I wanted to give people a platform to showcase their passion and talent without own having to spend a lot of money for the world to see. From the start, I was looking at this opportunity from a local level to give my peers a voice that they may not had in the past due to various reasons. After completing the 4th month of broadcasting shows in April 2012, I received an email from the CEO of The Hype Magazine, Jameelah Wilkerson, about doing some interviews for them in a cross-promotional way. This was a great opportunity not only to help people in my area (Valley, Alabama) but it also opened doors for undiscovered talent to network together with the mainstream industry via the podcast show.
From there, I was honored to have two hip hop legends, Warren G. & Twista, interview on the show. God gave me this calling to be a voice for this generation not only to interview or help people but to be able to share his love and message to all in this world. Since then, the show has become a podcast network titled “The Live By Terrence Network” which lasted until 2019. In 2020, 2 Factor Media was launched in the memory of my parents, Ben & Virginia Bennett to continue working in the entertainment industry. The experience allows me to be a bridge between people and opportunities. I am thankful for everyone who helped set up the foundation for this network. Now, I am determined to take it to the next level of inspirational entertainment. Special thanks to my Lord and Savior for my wife Tracy and children Deyante, Valencia, Terrence Jr., Tayden, & Kameron.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three most important qualities, skills, and areas of knowledge that shape my identity and impact the lives of those around me are being an idealistic champion thinker, a lifelong learner, and dedication to helping and serving others.
As an idealistic champion thinker, I haveva unique ability to envision a brighter future and inspire others to join me on that journey within God’s will. My optimism, creativity, and passion for making a difference set me apart as a visionary leader who is not afraid to challenge the status quo and pursue innovative solutions.
My commitment to lifelong learning is evident in my thirst for knowledge, curiosity, and willingness to explore new ideas and perspectives. I understand that growth is a continuous process, and I embrace opportunities to expand my horizons and deepen my understanding of the world around us.
But what truly sets me apart is my unwavering dedication to using your idealism and my thirst for knowledge to help and serve others. Whether it’s through acts of kindness, community service, or advocating for those in need, I demonstrate a genuine empathy and a strong sense of social responsibility.
In a world that can sometimes feel chaotic and uncertain, my qualities as an idealistic champion thinker, lifelong learner, and compassionate servant leader bring light, hope, and inspiration to our society.
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
In a world where values and manners seem to be fading away, the most impactful thing my parents did for me was raising me as a gentleman. From a young age, they instilled in me the importance of respect, kindness, and integrity. They taught me the value of chivalry, the power of empathy, and the significance of treating others with dignity.
Being raised as a gentleman goes beyond just knowing how to hold a door open or pull out a chair. It means having a genuine concern for others, being courteous in all interactions, and standing up for what is right. My parents showed me that true strength lies in compassion and that being unique in my abilities means using them to make a positive difference in the world.
Their guidance and example have shaped me into the person I am today – someone who values character over conformity, who strives to be a beacon of light in a world that sometimes feels dark. I am grateful for the lessons they taught me, the values they instilled in me, and the love and support they have always shown.
As I walk through life, I carry with me the legacy of being raised as a gentleman – a legacy that I will continue to honor and uphold, knowing that it is one of the most precious gifts my parents have given me.
