We recently connected with Tei Pearson-Hall and have shared our conversation below.
Tei, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
As a woman who has endured severe trauma and grief, I often reflect on the question of where my resilience stems from. It’s not a simple answer, as resilience is a complex and deeply personal attribute that can be cultivated through a combination of factors. Allow me to share some insights into what has contributed to my resilience amidst the hardships I’ve faced.
First and foremost, my resilience is nurtured by the strength and support of my loved ones. The unwavering presence of family and friends who stood by me during my darkest moments has played an integral role in my ability to persevere. Their compassion, understanding, and willingness to listen without judgment have provided me with a sense of security and belonging, reminding me that I am not alone in my struggles.
Another source of my resilience lies in my own inner strength, which I’ve discovered through self-reflection and introspection. Through therapy and self-care practices, I’ve learned to confront my pain, acknowledge my emotions, and gradually heal from the trauma I’ve experienced. This journey of self-discovery has empowered me to tap into my inner resilience and uncover the reservoir of strength that resides within me.
Additionally, I have found solace and inspiration in the stories of other survivors who have triumphed over adversity. Talking to and working with individuals who have overcome immense challenges and turned their pain into purpose has served as a guiding light on my own path to resilience. Thus, furthering my belief that I “was born to suffer, so that I may serve (others). Their experiences have shown me that it is possible to rise above even the most devastating circumstances and emerge stronger on the other side.
Furthermore, my resilience has been honed through the practice of gratitude and finding meaning in the midst of hardship. While grief and trauma can be overwhelming, I’ve learned to appreciate the small blessings in life and find purpose in helping others who may be facing similar struggles. By shifting my focus from what I’ve lost to what I still have, I’ve been able to cultivate a resilient mindset that allows me to navigate life’s obstacles with greater resilience.
It’s important to note that resilience is not a fixed trait but a quality that can be developed and strengthened over time. While the wounds may never fully heal, I’ve come to realize that my resilience is not defined by the absence of pain, but rather by my ability to continue moving forward despite it.
In conclusion, my resilience as a woman who has faced severe trauma and grief is derived from the unwavering support of loved ones, the exploration of my inner strength, the inspiration found in the stories of others, and the practice of gratitude and finding meaning in adversity. Through these sources, I have discovered the resilience necessary to endure and find hope in even the darkest of times while living unapologetically.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Reflecting on my journey, there were three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that had a profound impact on my transformation from trauma to triumph.
1. Resilience: Resilience is the core strength that enabled me to navigate the challenges I faced. It’s the ability to bounce back, adapt, and keep moving forward even in the face of adversity. Cultivating resilience allowed me to overcome the darkest moments and find the inner strength to rise above my circumstances.
2. Self-Compassion: Learning to be kind and gentle with myself was a game-changer. Instead of blaming myself for the trauma I experienced, I embraced self-compassion, recognizing that healing takes time and it’s okay to prioritize my well-being. By practicing self-care, self-forgiveness, and self-love, I gradually restored my sense of worth and rebuilt my life.
3. Empowerment through Knowledge: Knowledge became my armor. I immersed myself in learning about trauma, resilience, and personal growth. Understanding the psychological and emotional aspects of my experiences empowered me to reclaim my narrative and break free from the chains of victimhood. Through knowledge, I gained the tools to heal, rebuild my life, and inspire others on their own journeys.
These qualities, skills, and areas of knowledge intertwined and fueled my transformation. They enabled me to embrace my past as a catalyst for growth, rather than allowing it to define me. Today, I stand as a testament to the power of resilience, self-compassion, and the transformative nature of knowledge. My journey from trauma to triumph has not only shaped me but also fuels my purpose to support others in their own healing and empower them to find their own triumph.
For those who are early in their journey and seeking to develop or improve upon qualities like resilience, self-compassion, and empowerment through knowledge, here are some pieces of advice:
1. Embrace Self-Exploration: Take the time to understand yourself better. Reflect on your strengths, weaknesses, and values. Engage in activities that bring you joy and help you connect with your true self. This self-awareness forms the foundation for personal growth and resilience.
2. Seek Support: Don’t be afraid to reach out for support. Surround yourself with a supportive network of friends, family, or professionals who can provide guidance and encouragement. Consider joining support groups or seeking therapy to help you navigate your journey effectively. #TeamNosey was created so that others can build community around similar interests and journeys of healing while encouraging each other to “live unapologetically”. I encourage everyone to tap in on www.linktr.ee/theTPX.
3. Practice Self-Compassion: Treat yourself with kindness and compassion. Be mindful of the way you speak to yourself and challenge any negative self-talk. Practice self-care, prioritize your well-being, and allow yourself the space and time to heal and grow. “Healing takes time, so take your time” is what I champion the Noseys to practice and believe.
4. Cultivate Resilience: Resilience is not something you’re born with; it’s a skill that can be developed. Embrace challenges as opportunities for growth. Develop healthy coping mechanisms, such as mindfulness, meditation, or journaling, to build emotional strength and adaptability.
5. Pursue Knowledge and Education: Educate yourself about trauma, healing, and personal development. Read books, listen to podcasts, attend workshops, or enroll in courses related to your areas of interest. The more knowledge you acquire, the more empowered you’ll feel to navigate your journey and make informed decisions.
6. Set Realistic Goals: Break down your journey into smaller, achievable goals. Celebrate each milestone along the way, as it will reinforce your progress and motivate you to keep going. Remember that healing and personal growth take time, so be patient with yourself.
7. Practice Self-Reflection: Set aside regular time for self-reflection. Journaling, meditation, or simply taking quiet walks can help you process your experiences, gain insights, and identify areas where you can further develop and improve.
8. Embrace a Growth Mindset: Adopt a mindset that embraces growth and learning. Embrace challenges as opportunities to learn and develop new skills. Emphasize the process rather than solely focusing on outcomes, and recognize that setbacks are part of the journey.
Remember, everyone’s journey is unique, and progress may come in different forms and at different paces. Be gentle with yourself, stay committed to your growth, and trust that with time and dedication, you will continue to develop and improve upon these qualities.
