Meet Temira Bryant

We were lucky to catch up with Temira Bryant recently and have shared our conversation below.

Temira , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I will never forget when I was a senior in high school my interest was music, I love music (instruments as well). But one particular day one of my friends wanted a haircut and I said I will cut it (me with no clippers not knowing how to cut) lol He didn’t care he just wanted a haircut lol! I went to Family Dollar and bought some Conair clippers. I gave my friend a nice low brush cut no trimmers because I didn’t quite know all what I needed at the time but he ended up with an edge up, no push backs or nothing! So for two Sundays I showed my Pastor, Chief Apostle Dr. Belle Smith the haircut after service and she said in her nice sweet voice “Thats a nice Haircut Temira you should pursue in that”!!!
So I said thank you and I will talk to my grandmother about it! And so my grandmother Lucille Mcdonald who has passed on, I talked to her about everything and she said well lets look for the barber school! We found the Barber School “Regency Barber Academy” that was located in Spring Lake, NC!!! At that time I already graduated from High School trying to figure out what I was gonna do next! So I signed up for barber school and I was in there for one year and graduated! Barbering actually runs on my Father Wilbert Bryant side of the family! His father, my grandfather the late Wilson Bryant from Clanton, Alabama who at the time owned his barbershop/salon and was cutting for over 65 years and now I own my own barbershop TEE’z Cutz Barbershop!!! Ive been cutting for 21 years and owning my own shop for 3 1/2! God is good!!!

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am a Professional Barber/Stylist and Owner of Tee’z Cutz Barbershop. Whats most exciting about being a Barber and Business Owner is that you Set the atmosphere of how you want your business to be which I love positive energy and thats what I always try to keep in my shop! I love putting a smile on my Clients face because Barbers are counselors/doctors! Coming to the barbershop is therapy and a outlet for some! Besides cutting hair I also offer other services as far as facials, bigen services and eyebrow arching etc!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back and what was most impactful in this barbering field is having great customer service and treating people how you want to be treated! And I have always said when I get my own shop im gonna make sure my clients are good and I can say my clients are very happy! My advice to anyone, TREAT PEOPLE HOW YOU WANT TO BE TREATED and stay Humble!

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
