Meet Temperance Wooden

We recently connected with Temperance Wooden and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Temperance, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

My resilience comes from a mix of faith, motherhood, and the simple truth that I had to be strong long before I ever felt ready. I did not grow up with the softest life or the clearest support system, so I learned early that if I wanted something, I had to build it myself. Over time that turned into a habit, not the kind where you push through everything perfectly, but the kind where you refuse to stay down for long.

Becoming a mother deepened my resilience in a way I did not expect. There is something about looking at your children and realizing they are watching how you move through life. They learn how to get back up by watching me get back up. That changed the way I show up, not from a place of pretending to be superwoman, but from knowing I am shaping the world they will step into.

My faith plays a huge part as well. There were moments where I felt empty, overwhelmed, or unsure of where I was headed, and it was only God’s voice that gave me direction. Every time I thought something would break me, it ended up building me instead. That kind of strength does not come from me, it comes through me.

Starting my makeup business strengthened my resilience even more. Entrepreneurship is a mirror that shows you your doubts, your discipline, your passion, and all the areas where you still need to grow. It also gave me space to realize how powerful I am when I trust myself. Every client I beautify, every look I create, and every challenge I overcome reminds me that I am capable, I am evolving, and I am not finished yet.

My resilience is not just one thing. It is life, motherhood, faith, and a decision I make every day to keep showing up for myself. That is what keeps me grounded, focused, and ready for whatever comes next.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am the founder of The Glam Effect in Marianna, FL, where I specialize in bridal makeup, one-on-one sessions, special events, and natural glam looks. My passion is helping clients feel confident, beautiful, and radiant, whether it is on their wedding day, for a special occasion, or just because they want to treat themselves.

What excites me most about my work is the personal connection I build with each client. Being part of someone’s most memorable moments and helping them shine from the inside out is incredibly rewarding. I love creating looks that enhance natural beauty while leaving a lasting impression.

Professionally, I am focused on growing The Glam Effect as a trusted destination for personalized beauty experiences in Marianna. I am exploring new ways to connect with people, including the idea of hosting virtual makeup classes to share my techniques and inspire confidence, helping more people embrace their natural beauty even from home.

Whether it is bridal makeup, a one-on-one session, or a natural glam look for a night out, my goal is to help clients step into their confidence and leave feeling empowered.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, I would say the three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are passion, attention to detail, and adaptability.

Passion is what keeps me motivated every day. Loving what you do makes even the hard days worthwhile and gives you the energy to keep learning and growing.

Attention to detail is essential in beauty because every little touch can make a huge difference in the final result. Taking the time to perfect your craft shows in the quality of your work and builds trust with your clients.

Adaptability has allowed me to navigate challenges and changes, from new trends to client needs. Being open to learning and trying new approaches has kept my business evolving and relevant.

For anyone early in their journey, my advice is to cultivate these qualities deliberately. Follow what excites you, practice your skills consistently, and don’t be afraid to try new techniques or ideas. Surround yourself with mentors or resources that inspire growth and push you to improve. Remember, small consistent improvements lead to big results over time.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

My ideal client is someone who values confidence, self-expression, and quality in their beauty experience. They are open to trusting my expertise, whether it is for a bridal look, a special event, or a natural glam session. I love working with clients who are excited about enhancing their natural beauty and who appreciate the personal attention and care I put into every session.

An ideal client is also someone who wants to feel empowered and confident in their appearance, not just for the moment but long after the makeup is done. Essentially, anyone who is ready to invest in themselves, embrace their unique style, and enjoy the experience of looking and feeling their best is the perfect fit for The Glam Effect.
