Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tendria Weeks . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tendria , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I found my purpose once I realized how much I loved to be creative and connecting with so many people.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Hello my name is Tendria Weeks and I am Master Cosmetologist that specializes in nails. I took interest in nails over 8 years ago when I retired from baking cakes. I then decided to indulge in my creativity with a challenge and attended an accredited beauty school in Atlanta. I took school very serious and was in and out in no time. After school I still had a full time job, but I knew I wanted to continue my career in nails so I wasted no time starting my journey trying out shops and learning the industry frontwards and backwards before becoming an entrepreneur. For many years I had to juggle between my dreams and reality and deciding which was more important in order to get to where I am now. It has definitely been journey for me and I am so thankful that im still learning and loving what I do. I was able to completely resign from my full time job as a bus driver and become a full time nail tech over the pass year. I now have complete control over my finances and time.
I am now based out of the southside of Atlanta where I offer a range of services to help with relaxation from hand treatments, pedicures, manicures, and so much more.
I always observe my clients and make sure that I stay relevant and give them the best experience I know how. That being said, if you are looking for a good convo, good tunes, good vibes, clean environment, and beautiful nails please check me out.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
When you are in learning mode you have to literally be willing to act like our bodies . Process the information take what you need and get rid of the rest. Constructive criticism is a big one for me because no one knows it all and as much as it may be a little uncomfortable these things need to be talked about so you won’t constantly make the same mistakes.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
Although I love my career choice, it can get a little overwhelming.. I would recommend joining some kind of activity that has nothing to do with your career . For me, I enjoy skating and I go multiple times out the week.
