Meet Tenisha Bullock

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tenisha Bullock a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Tenisha, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?

I would say my optimism stems from my deep belief in the potential for positive change and growth in myself everyday. I find inspiration in the resilience of people around me and the small, everyday moments of kindness and progress. My faith in God provides a strong foundation, giving me hope and strength to face challenges and see the hourglass of life half full than half empty with a positive outlook. However ,by focusing on solutions rather than problems, I maintain a positive and optimistic attitude that fuels my drive to make a difference to people around me.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

As an artist, my journey began in elementary school, where I discovered my passion for drawing. I dedicate my life to God and give Him credit for all my success. Currently, I am a college student majoring in Fine Arts, working towards my bachelor’s degree. I do believe that life is about discovering our passions. I am passionate about art and it doesn’t matter what time of the day I make room for my passion. However, I have a deep love for children and have organized several events to give back to the community. Additionally, I have authored two books: “It’s Not How You Start That Race” and a children’s illustration book titled
“The adventures of Lily and the Magical Seed,” both available on Amazon. My faith in God guides me in everything I do, and I strive to inspire others through my art and actions. This 28th and 29th of September in Shreveport Louisiana will be hosting, “The Red River Revel festival downtown. I will be showcasing my Art to the Public on those two days from 10:30 a.m to 9 p.m. I participated last year and won Belcher, Louisiana, Sarepta, Louisiana and Vivian, Louisiana City entrance signs. Also, received awards for Snow Glo for creating a snowflake currently located downtown and will be showcased starting in November for Glow Feast in Shreveport, Louisiana. Bossier Art Council spot 32 is a piece called, ” Louisiana Good Times I created in 2023. I dedicated a piece to firefighters that is currently on display in the Sci- Port Discovery Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. I am currently in a competition now that called for artist for the new casino that is expected to open in 2025. Nevertheless, I give all my credit to God for giving me the opportunity to achieve my accomplishments.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Well, reflecting on my journey, three key elements stand out: resilience, adaptability, and a passion for continuous learning. Resilience was my anchor, helping me weather storms and stay the course even when the going got tough, shake it off and keep going. Adaptability became my superpower, enabling me to pivot and thrive amidst change. And a relentless pursuit of knowledge kept my curiosity alive and my skills sharp. I currently hold fourteen trades and expected to graduate in 2026 with my first Bachelor. For those just starting out, my advice is to embrace challenges as stepping stones, stay flexible and open to new experiences, and never stop learning. Find your passion, trust the process and have patience. Lean on God and plant good seeds in life. These qualities will not only help you navigate the ups and downs but also empower you to carve out your unique path to success. Lastly, but most importantly keep God first in every thing that you do.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

So, when I feel overwhelmed. I find it incredibly helpful to take a step back and prioritize self-care. I start with some deep breathing exercises to calm my mind, followed by a short meditation session to center myself. Taking time to be alone, even if it’s just for a few minutes, allows me to reflect and regain my focus. I also make sure to engage in activities that relax me, such as sketching or taking a walk in nature. These strategies help me reset and approach my tasks with a clearer, more composed mindset to put me back on focus that I got this.
