Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Teresa Robinson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Teresa, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
I developed my confidence and self-esteem over time by realizing that we’re all just people doing our best, and that looks different for everyone. Once I stopped comparing myself to others and started focusing on being better than I was yesterday, I felt a real shift.
I also built confidence by keeping small promises to myself—whether it was following through on a personal goal, learning a new skill, or showing up even when it was uncomfortable. Each of those small wins added up.
Another piece has been embracing mistakes as part of growth. Instead of seeing failure as a setback, I now see it as feedback that helps me improve. That mindset has allowed me to step into new challenges with more resilience.
Ultimately, my confidence comes from knowing I’m on my own journey, trusting the effort I put in, and recognizing that progress, not perfection, is what matters most.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m the founder of Soul Appeal Wellness, a brand I created to inspire people to live with more balance, strength, and self-compassion. I teach weekly mat and chair yoga classes, focusing on making yoga accessible for every body and every season of life. I also share guided meditations and yoga-based strength flows on my YouTube channel, which has been such a rewarding way to connect with people beyond my local community.
One of the milestones I’m most proud of is publishing my first book, You Are the Practice: Lessons in Stillness, Strength & Self-Compassion. It’s a collection of reflections and teachings designed to help readers cultivate stillness, strength, and self-love.
What excites me most about my work is seeing transformation—when someone realizes wellness isn’t about perfection but about showing up, breathing, and giving themselves space to grow. Looking ahead, Soul Appeal Wellness is expanding with new digital offerings, more guided meditations, and even products like handmade body butters and soaps. I’m also thrilled to be launching Soul Appeal Apparel, a line of yoga- and wellness-inspired clothing that brings the spirit of the practice into everyday life.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, the three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are resilience, self-awareness, and consistency.
Resilience has carried me through challenges and setbacks, reminding me that growth often comes through discomfort. My advice for developing resilience is to reframe obstacles as opportunities for learning—every challenge has something to teach you if you’re open to it.
Self-awareness has been equally important. Through yoga, meditation, and honest reflection, I’ve learned to notice my thoughts, patterns, and needs. For those starting out, I’d encourage building a simple mindfulness practice—even just five minutes a day—because awareness is the foundation for any lasting change.
Finally, consistency has made all the difference. Confidence and progress don’t come overnight, but through showing up again and again. My advice is to start small and stay steady; it’s better to take one step every day than to sprint and burn out. Over time, those small, consistent efforts become transformation.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed, the first thing I do is pause and breathe. Overwhelm usually comes from trying to hold everything at once, so slowing down helps me find clarity. I’ll often step onto my mat for a few grounding poses, or sit quietly with a short meditation—just five minutes of intentional stillness can reset my whole perspective.
I’ve also learned to break things into smaller, manageable steps instead of trying to tackle everything at the same time. And sometimes it’s simply about giving myself permission to rest, which can be just as productive as pushing through.
My advice for others is to find a simple ‘reset ritual’ that works for you—whether that’s deep breathing, journaling, a walk outside, or gentle movement. It doesn’t have to take long, but creating space to recenter yourself makes overwhelm feel a lot less heavy.
