Meet Terrance Smith

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Terrance Smith. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Terrance below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Terrance with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

I get my work ethic from my family, especially my father. His military background and the discipline that came with being raised as a military brat instilled in me a strong sense of responsibility, focus, and perseverance. Those values have shaped how I approach everything I do.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m the founder of Tass International, a multifaceted entertainment company that spans music, film, and production. My journey began in 2008 when I launched Tass Radio Records, laying the foundation for my brand. What excites me most about my work is the ability to create and share stories through music and film that resonate with people globally.

Over the years, Tass International has evolved and expanded, allowing me to bring innovative projects to life and collaborate with talented artists and creators. It’s about more than just entertainment—it’s about building a legacy that inspires others to pursue their passions.

Looking ahead, I’m thrilled about the new ventures and projects on the horizon. Whether it’s upcoming music releases, film productions, or further expansion of the brand, Tass International is all about pushing boundaries and delivering quality experiences to audiences worldwide.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back on my journey, three qualities and skills that were most impactful for me within the entertainment and music industry are vision, adaptability, and persistence.
1. Vision: The ability to see the bigger picture and know where you want to go is critical. Whether it’s producing music, writing scripts, or building a brand, having a clear vision for what you want to create will guide every decision. For those starting out, take time to define your goals and stay true to them, even when the path isn’t clear.
2. Adaptability: The entertainment industry is constantly evolving. Being able to adapt to new trends, technologies, and challenges has been essential for my growth. My advice is to stay curious and willing to learn. Keep an eye on emerging platforms and industry shifts so you can position yourself ahead of the curve.
3. Persistence: Success doesn’t come overnight. I’ve faced countless obstacles and setbacks, but persistence kept me moving forward. To anyone early in their journey: don’t give up. Stay consistent, remain patient, and trust that hard work will eventually pay off.

Lastly, surround yourself with people who inspire and challenge you. Building relationships in this industry is just as important as honing your craft. Keep learning, keep growing, and don’t be afraid to take risks.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

Two people have been incredibly instrumental in helping me overcome challenges and develop the skills, qualities, and knowledge I needed to succeed: Phill Michael Guildchrist and Orin Tucker.

Phill has been a mentor and a source of invaluable knowledge, teaching me the ins and outs of the business world and the music industry. He’s given me the guidance I needed to clarify my vision and move toward my goals as a businessman and music executive.

Orin Tucker has played a crucial role in pushing me to go after what I want. He’s been relentless in holding me accountable and ensuring I stay on the right path. His support and determination to keep me in good hands have been a driving force in my journey.

Both of them have been pivotal in shaping not only my career but also the mindset I carry as I navigate this industry. Their wisdom and encouragement have been priceless.
