Meet Terrence Huggins

We recently connected with Terrence Huggins and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Terrence, thank you so much for making time for us today. Let’s jump right into a question so many in our community are looking for answers to – how to overcome creativity blocks, writer’s block, etc. We’d love to hear your thoughts or any advice you might have.
Do Something Different! There are so many different variations and approaches to take in regards to getting over the dreaded “”Beat Block”. I like to take walks, go to the beach and draw inspiration from the outside world. As a producer, we can sit in a dark room for hours and create when needed, but bringing in that outside inspiration definitely can elevate the creative process.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My name is Terrence Esquire Huggins, Im a music producer based in Atlanta. Currently serving as the Head of Production at Exalt Recording Studio in Hampton, VA. I have been producing music now for about 15 years, been honored to work with so many of my favorite artist over time. As of the current state, I have been working on the finishing touches to my new upcoming R&B compilation album “Euphoria” hosted by DJ Bri Mafia. This project is set to release in August of 2023 and will feature 8 renowned artist ranging globally. This is definitely something Im very excited about as it’s something that I haven’t done as of yet. I’ve done many compilation projects successfully, but in my opinion, this one definitely takes the cake!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, three skills that have been the most impactful on my journey has been learning and constantly improving on music theory, audio engineering and vocal production. The bet advice I can give for someone starting this journey is to never put yourself in a box creatively, be willing to open your ear to different genres as so many of them offer gems that can help in your own personal development musically.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Always down to work with creatives! Definitely open to working with new artist for sure that are willing to push development. I thoroughly enjoy taking on new acts and seeing the full process play out over time. So if you want to work, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me!
