Meet Terri Allred

We were lucky to catch up with Terri Allred recently and have shared our conversation below.

Terri, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

I love this question. How did you find your purpose? I have found many different purposes throughout my life. I am lucky because I knew early on that I wanted to help people who were furthest from justice. Of course as a child I didn’t understand that’s what I was being pulled to do. However, I had a keen sense of Justice even as a young child. I also knew early on that I was a helper, one of those people who quickly saw what other people needed and responded with compassion.

I know now that learning to be helpful as a child was a double edged sword. I was attuned to the energy and expectations of my family and used people-pleasing as a way to manage anxiety, uncertainty, and chaos. Many of us, as children, learned to be the person others wanted us to be. Those learnings formed the core of my identity and created a path for me to find my authentic purpose ,and all the other “purposes” that wove throughout my life.

I believe that we have many purposes, and not necessarily one true purpose. Just as we change throughout our lives, our purpose can also change. Some people are born knowing what they have been called to do in this lifetime. Some people don’t have that clear sense or knowing, and that is OK too. Just as we all evolve and grow throughout our lives, our sense of purpose also evolves.

As an adult, and looking back on a 30 year career working in the field of sexual assault and domestic violence, I understand that initially I lost myself in the act of helping others. That makes a lot of sense as I learned my superpower in the context of seeking safety and stability. I know now that my strong drive to help others, my superpower, is best expressed while setting boundaries that allow me to be fully present and authentic. Now I help others maintain their sense of self while pursuing their passions.

If you are looking for your purpose, I offer a reframe for you to ponder.

1. What did you LOVE to do as a child?
2. What do you value?
3. When do you feel most alive?
4. What brings you joy?
5. When do you feel proud?

These questions will lead you to your authentic self. They may help you find your purpose for today.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I love water… being in it, hearing it, seeing it.
I have 4 children. Two are furry.
I dance in the kitchen, grocery store, and pretty much anywhere.
I love ice cream. Mint chocolate chip if I had to choose.

MY PASSION IS TRANSFORMATION— not just any transformation, but the kind that fundamentally expands your life.

Often you experience that deep, soul transformation when you are facing a life transition.

I’m dedicated to helping you make profound changes that empower you to become the best version of yourself.

I firmly believe in the potential for growth and renewal that resides within you, waiting to be awakened.

My approach to coaching is holistic. My 4 Quadrants of Transformation Model offers a comprehensive approach to your personal growth. It recognizes the importance of the conscious mind, where we set intentions and take deliberate actions. Simultaneously, it delves into the unconscious realm, where we unearth deep-seated beliefs and patterns. This model also embraces somatic awareness, recognizing the wisdom of the body in our transformation journey, and intuition, our inner compass guiding us toward authentic and lasting change. Together, these quadrants create a holistic framework for profound transformation, covering all aspects of our being, from the mind and emotions to the body and spirit.

I bring many “tools” to our time together to help you reach your goals. You get to choose the ones that work for you!
Coaching (Life, Success and Spiritual)
Hypnosis
Neuro-linguistic programming (the power of the subconscious)
Reiki energy work
EFT (also known as tapping)
Somatic experiencing (understanding how your body experiences stress and emotions)
Intuition and helping you develop your inner knowing

I have just launched Third Chapter Thriving, a program designed to guide women approaching middle age – a phase where rediscovery and reinvention take center stage.

This program is for women who are preparing to navigate (or currently navigating) the shifts into empty nest, menopause, or exploring an identity apart from work.

These transitions offer an opportunity to reconnect with your true self, set purposeful goals, and embrace change with newfound confidence.

Step into your “third chapter” where the best version of you awaits discovery.

I offer individual and group coaching, educational opportunities and retreats.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

For sure, curiosity, compassion, and courage.

I cultivated curiosity as a way to manage anxiety when I was a child and then realized it was so much more as an adult. Curiosity, genuine curiosity as opposed to performative curiosity, tells your nervous system that you are safe. It is a renewing emotion that helps you connect with others. It also helps you to be open to others’ experiences, opinions and perspectives.

Compassion is crucial as well. I was always a compassionate person for the most part but as a young professional realized that I had limits to my compassion. I had been working with victim/survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. However, when I realized the limits of my compassion, I made a deep shift. I began to understand that objectification was a consistent theme of all victimization and that if I participated in objectification when I demonized those who committed acts of violence. When I was 24 years old, I began to work with people who victimized others. It was then that I learned what true compassion was.

Courage is the final most important skill. I say that all of these are skills rather than qualities because we can all develop them. The foundation of courage is knowledge of and belief in yourself. It is ultimately the ability to stand up for what you value and hold dear.
