Terri Josie, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Funny thing is, it kind of just hit me while I was daydreaming. I was literally laying in the bed, daydreaming! I’ve always been a hustler by nature, and I’ve always tried starting my own businesses, but nothing would ever stick. And since I’m such a creative being, my mind would constantly wander about what I could create or venture into next. From photography, creating clothes, designing websites for others, I even went as far as creating and coding a whole NFT line that I never released. My daytime career however was being a Celebrity Nanny. As I’m lying in bed, it hit me, I AM THE BUSINESS! I decided I would start coaching and mentoring others so they could break into the High-Profile/Six-Figure Nanny market. I turned my career into another business. Not only am I an active Celebrity Nanny, my COO, Katie and I, are now able to mentor former teachers, other nannies, and childcare professionals so they can get on the path to “nanny financial freedom”. Being able to show childcare professionals that they can make six-figures working as a nanny truly makes my heart happy. That’s my purpose in life.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Hi there, I’m Josie, and I’m a High-Profile Sports Nanny. I have such a rewarding career that I decided to turn it into a program where I can help others. I have the type of career that doesn’t feel like work. It’s more like a I’m one of the main characters in a movie. And, I say “one” because the children are the stars of this show! I’m passionate about everything childcare related, but once you get to the status of working for your favorite athletes, it becomes surreal.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The advice I would give to others that are trying to take on this journey would be the three Ps. Persistence, Passion, and Patience. This career didn’t happen overnight. I was a former teacher and those skills, being able to multitask, handle multiple children at once, knowing the ages and stages of child development, being able to lesson plan, those are all the skills and qualities these rich families are looking for when they are seeking to hire in-home private nannies/educators. But the process to get here takes months. So, you have to be patient and persistent, but you also have to have the passion to want to make this life a career. It’s demanding, but it’s worth it. You definitely need to know what you’re signing up for in advance, that’s where mentors come in. We’re here to be transparent, help you succeed in the field, but also let you know it’s not all peaches and roses. People look at the fact that High-Profile Nannies fly private, vacation in nice spots, our rent is paid for by our bosses, but that’s just a small (and I mean small) fraction of the bigger picture. It’s hard work.
If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?
There’s always going to be challenges in any career I think, but the one I’m facing now is a personal challenge. When do I give up the High-Profile Nanny life and start a family of my own? Unfortunately, you can’t do both at the same time. I could, but I wouldn’t be able to fully dedicate time to both.
