We were lucky to catch up with Terri Matthews recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Terri, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience was born in the midst of adversity. I grew up in challenging circumstances that taught me at a very young age how to navigate hardship, adapt quickly, and keep moving even when the path wasn’t clear. There wasn’t a choice to give up—only the choice to grow through what I was facing.
Those early experiences shaped my perspective. They taught me to trust God deeply, to find strength in my identity rather than my environment, and to rise, even when it felt like the odds were stacked against me. I’ve learned that resilience isn’t just about surviving—it’s about choosing hope, again and again. And today, I carry those lessons with me in every room I walk into, in every business I build, and in every woman I encourage.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
What I Do & What I’m Focused On Professionally
I’m an entrepreneur, but at my core, I believe I’m called to be a vessel of generosity. My faith in Jesus is central to everything I do—and I believe He challenges us to live open-handedly, using our gifts, resources, and platforms to serve others.
Professionally, I build businesses that are both profitable and purposeful. I’ve launched ventures across various industries—from consulting and product-based companies to faith-centered communities—each one designed not just to generate revenue, but to create real impact. I believe in building well so others can be lifted up—whether it’s mentoring women in business, investing in underserved communities, or resourcing nonprofits that are doing life-changing work.
What excites me most is watching people realize they were created on purpose for a purpose—and then helping them walk that out. That’s the heart behind FaithMADE, a movement I lead that empowers women to live every area of their lives for Jesus, while growing in their gifts, leadership, and community.
Right now, I’m focused on expanding both the reach and resources of FaithMADE—this includes launching new business classes, monthly prayer themes, mentorship spaces, and exclusive content that blends faith with practical tools. I’m also preparing for upcoming events and prayer retreats that gather women from all walks of life for authentic connection and spiritual renewal.
I’m passionate about excellence, stewardship, and legacy—and I want everything I create to reflect the generosity, grace, and greatness of the God I serve.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, the three qualities that were most impactful in my journey were:
Resilience
Life didn’t start easy for me, and I had to learn early on how to keep showing up, even when the odds felt stacked against me. Resilience taught me that hard seasons don’t have to define you—they can refine you. For anyone early in their journey, I’d say: don’t despise humble beginnings. Every challenge is an opportunity to build your endurance and character. Learn how to bend without breaking, and trust that the hard parts are building something deep in you.
Discernment
As I’ve grown—especially in business—I’ve learned that every opportunity isn’t a divine assignment. Discernment has helped me choose wisely, protect my peace, and stay aligned with God’s purpose for my life. For those just starting, make time to pause and pray before you pursue. Quiet confidence comes from clarity, and clarity comes from God.
Stewardship
Whether it’s money, influence, people, or ideas—how you manage what’s in your hands matters. I’ve learned to treat every resource as something I’m responsible for growing, not just holding. My advice: Start small. Be faithful over what you have now, and it will multiply. Excellence begins with how you treat even the smallest things.
Final encouragement:
You don’t have to have it all figured out—just be faithful with the step in front of you. Be teachable, stay surrendered, and know that your journey isn’t random—it’s being written with purpose.
How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
If I knew I only had a decade left to live, I would live every day with deep intention.
I would pour even more of myself into the people and purposes that matter most—my faith, my family, and the work God has entrusted to me. I would spend more time at the feet of Jesus, listening, learning, and surrendering. I’d love more boldly, forgive more quickly, and speak life over as many people as I could.
I would travel with my loved ones, not just to see the world, but to create lasting memories—moments filled with laughter, rest, and meaning. I would be more present. Less rushed. I would celebrate the little things that often go unnoticed.
And I’d use every bit of my remaining time to raise up others—to pour wisdom into the next generation, to build platforms for those who have been overlooked, and to invest in people with potential that the world hasn’t yet seen.
At the end of the decade, I don’t want people to say I just lived—I want them to say I loved well, gave freely, and left something behind that pointed back to Jesus.
