We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sk8luv33 (Terry Lamar). We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sk8luv33 below.
Sk8luv33, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I believe I’ve found my life purpose through willingness of helping others. As far as my spiritual belief, I believe Jesus is the son of God. With that being said, I try my best to follow the rules, guidelines, principles of the bible for leadership/guidance of my life. Proverbs 3:6 – In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
I believe it takes a while to find your true purpose in life being that there are several things you have to piece together before you’re able to walk in to your purpose. For example, if you’re a leader you have to develop soft skills as far as speaking to people in public or in writing. I feel that it takes multiple skillsets to walk out your true purpose as well as other individuals that share a similar interest and passion.
I believe to find my purpose, I had to move from my home town birmingham, al to atlanta, ga. Moving from your home town into a new city is a challenge in itself, no family or friends. I felt that this journey would make or break me. I feel like it has brought this best out of me, something that would of never happened if I haven’t left home.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Bishop Oldes created a Preaching On Skates Tour and he reached out to me to help with promotion and etc. This event was amazing because the church community and roller skate community were brought together in one place. One of the skaters gave the life to Jesus Christ in the Skating rink, something amazing and different. This opportunity was awesome because I have wanting to be apart of something from the regular skate jam/party.

What made it great is that Hot 107.9 ATl host and DJ Geronimo were hyping us up all while playing for us as if we were at a skating rink. I’m pretty sure this will potentially be a reoccurring event for Push in the near future. We all had fun. Also, one of the video clips from this party recently went viral on YouTube as an YouTube Short, over 8 million views.

–JB Rehearsal Thursday at Stone Mountain Skates 2023 | @stonemountainskates, @phyllise.brown (Chi-Force), @sk8luv33/@sk8luv33films
This is the 2nd night me (Sk8luv33) & Phyllis Brown (Chi-Force) created named JB Rehearsal Thursdays at Stone Mountain Skates. I asked the owner Ravi of bringing back the JB Thursdays idea (Jami Ffrench-Parker – Previous manager of Stone Mountain Skates) but different being that the first one ended a few years ago. Me and Phyllis Brown created our version of what a middle/new school Chicago JB session should be. The owner agreed and the djays we choose for this journey is DJ Ham & Dame-0 (This is a Dame-0 Track). DJ Ham is upcoming djay who is making his strides in the atlanta roller skate scene. His hometown is Baltimore which skates to the same music as Chicago. So we thought of an idea to pair him with Dame-O. Dame-O is a talented music producer from Chicago that recently relocated to atlanta, ga. Dame-O has worked with industry professionals such as Kanye West. Phyllis Brown is a chicago native but lives here in atlanta as well. She stated that it was an awesome idea to put the two together, something new and different. And so, we created the session. Every thursday at stone mountain skates. Lessons – 8pm to 9pm, Session – 9pm to 12am.
–Celebrity Reposts and Comments | @tonibraxton, @iameldebarge
Toni Braxton Repost – I filmed a skater @iam_anointedyvonne who skates with a church fan skating to skate music. This particular video was generating a lot of views via instagram and it caught the attention of Toni Braxton. By my surprise, she reposted my video and mentioned me (Sk8luv33) in the post. This was the first time I’ve ever had that happen from a celebrity.
El DeBarge commented on my post – #joisk8athon2022 – This was a video clip from JOI’S SK8-A-THON 2022” at Golden Glide. A couple skating together to Switch – There’ll Never Be. El DeBarge commented and liked the instagram post.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I believe having the skillset of videography (since 2011), coming into the art of drawing and animation is high school (childhood/teenage years), and being a technical person in general (since I was little) worked together as far as being a skate videographer/journalist. As mentioned above, it takes a while to figure out how to work everything together so give yourself time to develop your crafts and vision.
What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
What I would say to anyone starting on their path to pursuing their dreams/vision, I would say never give up on your dream/vision. If you truly believe in your vision, keep God first and he will guide you along the way. God will test you to see if you believe in the vision and if you’re ready for what you’re seeking for. Once you prove to yourself and God that you trust and believe it, God will surround you around people who believe or see the vision as much as you. Their role in your journey/vision is to help walk out certain parts of the vision you’re not able to. This is very similar to a company with different departments like – Sales, Accounting, Shipping, Receiving and etc. They are all different departments but they all are working together to achieve one common goal of the company.
Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
As of now, one of the main obstacles is maintaining income while taking risks and making sacrifices toward your vision. I have been so focused on building my rapport with the skate community, my brand and supporting other skate event host’s skate parties that I haven’t been focusing on building my own skate events, parties and etc. I had a number of skaters asking when are we going to see Sk8luv33 Skate Jam/Party. I told them after the 2 skate nights me and Phyllis Brown (Chi-Force) created – Diggin’ in the Crates & JB Rehearsal Thursdays – get a solid foundation with the support (150 to 200 for both sessions), I can shift focus a little to an actual skate jam.
Skate Jam/Event requires a lot of support from fellow skaters to provide services for different parts of the function. Some people are greeters, some assist with promoting, some help with ideas, some help ticket sales and etc. This is a whole new arena. The awesome thing is Phyllis Brown has experience with hosting skate jam/event’s being that she’s apart of a skate group named Chi-Force based in Chicago. She helped organize several of their skate parties that they’ve hosted in Chicago.
To help push me in the direction and to scale things up some, I decided to shift focus more on my YouTube platform along side of my Instagram platform. So far, I’ve been accepted into the YouTube Partnership Program which helps individuals who use their platform to earn revenue on different levels all while connecting to your core audience. I also decided to go back into the workforce as well. My area of expertise is IT – Networking Systems. I took a break during the pandemic to pursue my original passion of making something of my creative gifts with music and videography again. My first attempt was back in 2011 when I moved from birmingham, al to atlanta, ga. I feel like the foundation of my vision and purpose is set and now I can invest more into it being that I know exactly what it is and what goals I want to accomplish. Some day, people will ready my story and see my work and say – God (Elohim/Jehovah) has to be real being some of the events are almost unbelieveable. Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails – Proverbs 19:21. Remember, you have to believe in your vision first before others will or can, make them a believer. A saying that I say to myself all of the time – MAKE IT HAPPEN – @sk8luv33, @sk8luv33films. Peace and Love.
