We recently connected with Tess + Amber and have shared our conversation below.
Tess + Amber, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
This dream and team was created on a wish, hope and really hard work! We (Tess and Amber) have always had a love for all things beauty and we were so lucky to have a chance meeting in February 2020. We began partnering soon after but didn’t really dive in building our company until late 2022. Meeting one another and realizing how much of a passion that we both had for making all women feel beautiful helped us to lean into the hurdles, challenges, highs and lows of building a business. We both realized that this truly did not even “feel like work” to either of us because we enjoyed it so much and, in turn, was our true purpose and calling. We feel so incredibly blessed to be able to do what we love every day, lead a team of incredible women and be a small part of bridal journeys.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
We are 2Girls1Brush Beauty and we specialize in bridal beauty, special event hair and makeup, lessons and Glitter Glam. We (Tess and Amber) met at a wedding in 2020 where we were both newly on our own in the wedding industry. We always joke that we barely said two words to one another during this first meeting and have come so far. We connected again about a month later when a bride needed both hair and makeup services and Tess reached out to Amber to help with the hair side and the rest is history!
We have spent the last almost 4 years working together and we eventually collapsed our separate businesses into one brand. We began hiring for our team in 2022 and it has been such an amazing ride. This team is built on body positivity, inspiring confidence, having fun and stands on a foundation of trust and reliability. The 2G1BB team is made up of 11 beauty professionals and we have been so lucky to have some incredible women join us on this journey and believe in our dreams and team just as much as we do. We are located in Alliance Town Center in Fort Worth but travel all over the world- wherever you may need us! The majority of our clients are located in DFW, TX but we have traveled to Canada, Mexico, Arkansas, Oklahoma and more to make bridal dreams come true.
We specialize in softer looks- “Soft Glam? Yes Ma’am!”. We believe every woman deserves to feel their best and get pampered and we live by our motto– “You can sit with us!”. We strive to inspire confidence and lead the way for other aspiring artists as well.
We have a special offering called “Glitter Glam” where we glam kiddos of all ages with fun hairstyling, hair tinsel, glitter, age-appropriate facial gems and makeup and often get to attend birthday parties, sporting events, carnivals and more. We are always here to make your kiddo’s event the most fun ever!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
We, as business owners, can credit much of our success to our deep desire to succeed, our persistence and our constant craving to learn. We truly know that we are always learning something new and this industry requires you to always be on top of the next new thing. Staying stagnant is not our jam! We have pushed through the pandemic and slow lulls in business to create new and exciting launches, pushing new ideas and always creating opportunities for ourselves no matter what.
For new artists, our biggest advice is to never give up and never stop learning! Practice, practice, practice=— you will see the biggest growth in your artistry the more you branch out, try new things, create looks on models and push yourself outside of your comfort zone. It was super scary for us to throw ourselves into this industry in the beginning but it has paid of ten fold.
Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
We, as a small team saw exponential growth in our inquiries and bookings for weddings toward the end of 2022 and realized that we needed help! This is when we began to grow our team and hand-select artists who could resonate with and represent our brand. We have also seen a huge growth in our social media which had led to so much exposure and fun for us. We are known for our fun videos on TikTok and Instagram and many clients and brides have discovered us on these platforms.
We feel so lucky to have found such amazing artists who wanted to join us and have helped us grow this little dream of ours so much.
