Meet Tessa Cardwell

We recently connected with Tessa Cardwell and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Tessa, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

In life I have always struggled with the feel of belonging. I always felt out of place as I am learning many of us do. I always loved helping others and when I became a fitness instructor I knew I had found something I knew would be a apart of my life forever. I knew it was something I was going to be able to help others in so many ways. I was in a world of bettering yourself while helping others do the same while being a part of a community. What is better than that. I used to think always helping others was something I was good at and I had a love for fitness my whole life. So, when I was presented with an opportunity to purchase the barre studio I had worked at for years I jumped on that chance. I had always dreamed of owning a studio and creating a safe space for any age and all fitness levels to have a community where we grow together and encourage and cheer for each others success. I knew this was my opportunity to make a difference in the world somehow. I feel like I have found my purpose in life of helping others in more ways than I could have ever imagined and I hope that each and every person that walks through our doors knows that they have a piece of helping with that. I do what I do because of them. Knowing that I can create a space of inclusive, safe, fun, challenging, encouraging, and loving makes me smile and know all the struggles are worth it. To know that you somehow make others lives better while they help make yours better is such an amazing feeling that I hope I get to enjoy for years to come. Sometimes we find our purpose in life not even looking for it. That is how I feel I found my purpose. I hope that I can always be a part of helping others better themselves all while bettering myself.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Hello my name is Tessa and I am a Boutique Barre Studio Owner at Omnibarre. We are located in Cedar Park, Texas. I am also one our many instructors. At Omnibarre we offer Barre, which is a low impact workout that includes movements from pilates, ballet, and yoga that will have you shaking and those muscles burning in all the good ways. We also offer TRX Suspension Training, which is a low impact body workout using straps that allow you to work on balance and strengthening your muscles and that core. We offer Yoga as well to help calm and ease the body and mind. We are a woman owned business looking to build a community while also helping others better themselves not only physically but mentally. We all need that safe place we can go and feel heard and seen while having someone who will cheer us on the whole way we are bettering ourselves.

Omnibarre has been around for seven years and each year gets better and better. We love our events and celebrations with all our members and clients during the holidays. We love each and every class and all clients that walk through that door. I love how all our members and clients will chat before and after class. The friendships that are made and how everyone knows everyone makes it such an amazing community.
You will always have a different workout in every class. No two are the same.

We hope that we will see you at our studio soon and you love it as much as we do.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I would say consistency, positivity, and community. Honestly without staying consistent would anything bring you to the goals you have for anything in your life. Knowing what works and sticking with it. Listening to our clients helps so much. Then we have positivity which is huge in fitness. Creating a fun environment that strives on positive attitudes that seem like a fun party wehn wokring out brings out the best in everyone. When they know that they can walk into our studio with a huge smile and someone so happy they are there and bring that energy and positivity to class. It makes our clients experience even better. Lastly community, without it what would we be? Community is everything when it comes to fitness. We all need a place where we feel like this is my place. Having a place for our members and clients to come to where they are seen, heard, loved, accepted, and encourage with all the happiness for them is huge. This is what we all need and want. I hope that everyone who walks through my door has that feeling.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?

My biggest area of growth would have to be realizing it cannot all be done quick and that everything takes time. We are so quick to want a quick fix or to get to our goals in a snap. I have really been humbled this last year that we need to slow down and take one step at a time. That it will all be okay and everything will work out as it should. It is ok if it doesn’t go how you planned, that keep going and keep pushing yourself. Be patient and consistent and in time it will always work out. Another one would be never let anything keep you down. In all the hard times keep getting back up and keep pushing through. It is in the hard times where we grow and learn, so use those to look at where you can improve and build on that.
