Meet TéTé

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful TéTé a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

TéTé, thanks for taking the time to share your lessons with our community today. So, let’s jump right in – one of the most essential skills for unlocking our potential is self-discipline. Where does your self-discipline come from?

My self-discipline comes from building my business, Brows by TéTé, from the ground up. I started with no local reputation, no walk-ins, and only my passion and commitment to learning the craft of permanent makeup. I had to stay focused and consistent—waking up early to study techniques, practice daily, handle bookings, create content, and work with clients, all while managing the back end of my business.

There were slow seasons, moments of doubt, and even times I questioned if it was worth it. But I always reminded myself why I started—to create something of my own and offer a service that helps people feel more confident. That drive, combined with showing up even when motivation was low, shaped the self-discipline I have today.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m the owner of Brows by TéTé, a permanent makeup studio where I specialize in nano brows, powder brows, combo brows, and lip blushing. My goal is to deliver results that look natural and feel empowering—helping clients wake up every day feeling more confident and polished without relying on makeup.

What makes my work special is the level of care and customization I offer. I take the time to study each client’s face, brow structure, and preferences to design a shape and color that truly suits them. Many of my clients come to me after years of struggling with thin or uneven brows—some due to overplucking, others because of health conditions—and seeing their reaction after the procedure reminds me why I love what I do.

I started my business in the winter of 2023, and recently moved into a bigger space in Conway, South Carolina to accommodate my growing clientele. I’m excited to continue building my brand and expanding my services, while keeping everything personal, intentional, and client-focused.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The three most important qualities that shaped my journey are consistency, adaptability, and client communication.

Consistency kept me moving even when growth was slow. Whether it was posting on social media, practicing my technique, or showing up for one client at a time—staying consistent helped build trust and momentum.

Adaptability allowed me to grow faster. In this industry, things change constantly—styles, techniques, even business platforms. I’ve had to be open to learning, adjusting, and sometimes completely shifting how I do things.

Client communication is something I value deeply. Listening, explaining expectations clearly, and being honest about what’s possible has built real relationships with my clients. People remember how you made them feel—and being clear and kind goes a long way.

For anyone starting out: take your time, keep showing up even when it feels quiet, and stay curious. Your growth won’t look like anyone else’s—but it will come if you’re consistent and open to learning.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?

When I feel overwhelmed, the first thing I do is pause and break things down. I make a quick list of what’s on my plate and highlight what actually needs to be done today. It helps me get out of that all-at-once feeling and take one step at a time.

Sometimes I’ll also give myself space—even just 10–15 minutes away from my phone, my work, or noise—to reset. Whether that’s taking a walk, stretching, or sitting in silence, I’ve learned that rest can be productive too.

My biggest advice is: don’t try to do everything at once. Prioritize, breathe, and remember that even small progress is still progress.
