We were lucky to catch up with Tetiana Stepanenko recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tetiana, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I found my purpose through a long journey of self-discovery. From childhood, I felt the pressure of societal expectations dictating who I should be and what I should pursue. However, despite this, I couldn’t find true meaning while conforming to these limitations.
My path to self-awareness began when I turned to yoga practices and various methods of personal development. This opened up new possibilities for me and allowed me to connect with my inner essence. It was at this point that I began to understand that these practices brought me genuine fulfillment and meaning in life. Through them, I could find inner peace and truly listen to my authentic self.
The discovery of this inner harmony inspired both me and my husband to create our first stretching studio. I felt compelled to share this state of being with others. Each time I saw the grateful faces of our clients and heard their stories of positive transformations resulting from our classes, I realized that helping people is my true calling.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m originally from a small town in southern Ukraine, never imagining my life path would lead me to the other side of the world, where I would build my business. My childhood was filled with various activities such as dancing, horseback riding, stretching, and kickboxing. As I grew older, I turned to yoga, and after several years of practice, I decided to try aerial yoga. That’s when my journey began.
Diving swiftly into this new direction, I started taking various training courses to become a yoga instructor. I was drawn to the holistic approach to a healthy and beautiful body, where workouts allowed not only trying various acrobatic elements but also stretching gently, relieving tension from the spine, and simply relaxing.
Step by step, I became who I am today. In 2021, my husband and I opened the first stretching studio in our city, which became a true haven for women.
However, in 2022, a full-scale war began in Ukraine, and I had to close my studio and leave. This period was very difficult for me: I found myself in a foreign country, under immense stress and depression. At some point, I realized that I needed to change something urgently and returned to my practices. All the tools I offer now, I use myself, and I can confidently say that they help.
I moved to Canada and now I am building my life here, continuing to pursue my purpose – helping people.
I am currently actively working on opening a stretching studio in Vancouver. It’s a space for those who value moments of solitude in the rhythm of the big city. It’s not just a place for workouts, it’s a studio where everyone will find something special for themselves. We aim to create a space that enriches not only the body but also the mind and soul.
Here, our clients can not only engage in stretching and physical exercises but also have access to various experts and events that will help them unlock their potential on all levels. We organize events with professionals in fitness, yoga, meditation, and many other fields. We are confident that our studio will become a source of inspiration and support for everyone seeking their true path.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Stepping out of your comfort zone.
Expanding the boundaries of your capabilities begins where your comfort zone ends. Go where it’s scary, that’s where you’ll find your growth.
2. Continuous learning and self-improvement.
Wherever you go, the only thing that stays with you is yourself, your knowledge, and skills. Invest in yourself.
3. Positive mindset and staying flexible.
The world is changing rapidly, and those who adapt to it faster have more chances of success.
Every journey is individual, so it’s important to listen to yourself, find what inspires you, and move in that direction.
Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
My ideal client is someone who comes to us not only with a desire to transform their body but also with a thirst for deep inner transformation. In my understanding, the ideal client strives for holistic development, ready to work on themselves both physically and spiritually.
Physically, this is a person who not only dreams of a beautiful body but also values the flexibility of their body, strives for its improvement, and cares for it with love and respect. For them, a workout is not just a way to burn calories but an opportunity to listen to themselves.
Spiritually, my ideal client is someone who is searching for their path in this world, facing challenges and uncertainties but ready to move forward. They seek answers to their questions, strive for harmony, and understanding of themselves and the world around them. For them, our studio is not just a place for physical practice but an oasis for inner self-exploration and development.
We organize various events, retreats, and seminars where our clients can meet like-minded people, exchange experiences, and be inspired by new ideas. Here, they can find support, understanding, and friendship with those who share their values and aspirations.
The ideal client for me is someone who is open to change, ready for challenges, and willing to embark on a journey to themselves, with our team as a source of support and inspiration.
