We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Thaisa Salopek a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Thaisa, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
My optimism comes from my mother. Since childhood, gratitude and resilience have been my guiding stars. Growing up, I quickly learned that while we couldn’t control every situation, we could always control our mindset. My mother has been a constant presence in my life, always reinforcing the belief that things will work out in the end. She taught me the power of prayer and reminded me never to be influenced by things beyond my control.
Even though I still consider myself “young” at 44, I feel like I’ve lived through many meaningful changes in my lifetime. I’ve gone through law school in my home country, worked as an attorney, moved to the U.S. and left everything I knew behind, and even changed careers to work in real estate. No matter what challenges I’ve faced, my mother’s voice has always been there, encouraging me to believe that whatever happens will ultimately be for the best.
This optimistic mindset has served me well. I truly believe I’m a happier person because I choose to see life through a positive lens, finding opportunities even in difficult situations.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
As a real estate agent, I have the privilege of guiding clients through one of the most significant milestones in their lives—buying or selling a home. My brand is built on trust, expertise, and a commitment to ensuring my clients feel confident and supported every step of the way. I believe in creating an experience that is not only professional and seamless but also enjoyable and memorable.
What sets me apart is my unique combination of skills and values. With a legal background, I have a deep understanding of the intricacies of contracts and the negotiation process. This knowledge allows me to advocate for my clients with precision and care, protecting their interests and ensuring their transactions are as smooth and secure as possible.
Equally important, my personality brings a sense of ease and positivity to what can often feel overwhelming. Buying or selling a home can be daunting, but I’m here to make the journey less stressful and more exciting. My goal is for clients to look back on this experience with a smile, knowing they had someone they could trust completely.
I’m also excited about the growth and opportunities in the real estate market. Whether it’s new technology simplifying the process or expanding my reach to serve more communities, I’m always looking for ways to enhance my services. I recently launched my new YouTube channel @ToursWithThaisa, and I am excited about this journey. For me, it’s not just about closing deals but building relationships.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, I think resilience has been one of the most important qualities in my journey, no matter what I’ve chosen to do. My grandfather, who has since passed, used to say, “If you choose to be a teacher, be the best teacher. If you choose to be a lawyer, be the best lawyer. If you choose to be a stay-at-home mom, be the best one.” His words taught me that whatever you pursue, you should aim for excellence.
That mindset has pushed me to aim high, but it hasn’t always been easy. I’ve struggled with imposter syndrome at times, but those experiences have also reminded me that when you put in the effort, good things will come your way. My advice is simple: figure out what you want, find out what it takes to get there, and then put in the work. Opportunities will come, but you have to recognize them and act on them.
The other big lesson I’ve learned is that it’s okay to change your mind. We’re all constantly growing and evolving, and your goals might change along the way—and that’s okay. What matters is staying true to where you are in life and adjusting as needed.
At the end of the day, it’s about staying resilient, putting in the effort, and allowing yourself the space to grow and adapt.
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
It might sound cliché, but the book that has had the most impact on my life is The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. I first encountered it decades ago when I watched the documentary as a young person just starting my career and life. I was fascinated by the idea that our thoughts and beliefs could influence the outcomes we experience. That concept completely shifted how I viewed the world.
After reading the book, it resonated even more deeply with me. Already a big believer in the power of prayer and naturally optimistic, I embraced the idea that I could create my future and live the life I desired. It gave me tools I’ve used ever since and sparked a lifelong journey of self-discovery. Over the years, I’ve read many other books on the subject, practiced, and become a strong advocate for the principles of the law of attraction.
Now, I’m diving deeper into learning about quantum physics energy—how understanding where and how to direct your energy can positively shape your life. It’s a fascinating concept to realize that you can shift your reality simply by focusing on your thoughts and intentions. This way of thinking has truly transformed how I approach challenges, opportunities, and life itself.
