Meet Thalia Hagopian

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Thalia Hagopian. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Thalia below.

Hi Thalia, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

I think work ethic is something that deeply stems from within oneself. However, the way I was raised and grew up definitely had a role in shaping this trait. I learned this drive particularly from my parents, especially my mom. She truly is a powerful woman and always pushed forward through any obstacle. She would never give up and has resilience like no other. This might be a silly story but I distinctly remember one day when I was little; she was juggling work, family and specifically spring cleaning. It was dark outside and half the garage was still a mess. I thought to myself, “guess we’ll finish tomorrow.” When I asked my mom, she said, “no we’re finishing tonight.” I was completely shocked that after a full day of work she still had the powerful drive to finish what she started, even if it was something that truly wasn’t even that important. It was a different level of self-discipline that opened a completely new perspective for me. This was just one small story, that oddly had a big impact on me, but my whole life was full of shocking moments like this where my mom pushed the limits I didn’t know could be pushed. She always went above and beyond. That trait rubbed off on me because I realized that even when you think the end is near, it never is. It’s all your mind set to take you to the next chapter. Weather that’s cleaning a garage, managing clients, juggling work/personal life, you name it… Your mindset and work ethic stems deep to your core and makes a significant difference in your daily life.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I started working for my family’s accounting business when I was 16. I never knew I’d be a co-owner a couple years after graduating college with a mission to expand the business to the next level. My background is in marketing and management. I am in charge of managing all business daily operations, growth strategies, and marketing execution. The most exciting part of my job is knowing that the sky is the limit and I have the freedom to push the company as far as I want. We’re going big. It takes patience and consistent dedication but it will reach the heights I want when the time is right.

It’s a truly fulfilling job when we make such a big impact on local small businesses. As we partner with them to manage their accounting services, we take care of their bookkeeping and constantly keep their growth in mind. While we grow our business, our mission is to also do the same for our clients. We’re not your typical CPA. With our technique, we make a big difference on the owners’ lives and I think that’s pretty cool for an accounting firm.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Worth ethic, self-discipline and confidence.

Having that drive to constantly work hard is something you need to live and breathe. It comes from within and it’s not easy. You need to expect to fail and I was originally scared of this. However, I realized that to get to where I want to go, I need to fail. I need to fail many times and the more the better. The more I fail, the faster I get to my goal. No need to be scared. True change begins outside your comfort zone and your work ethic will take you there.

Self-discipline is huge. It’s easy to get distracted by a lot of things in today’s age. It’s easy to get caught up in comparing yourself to others or opting to go out instead of working late. These moments are moments where staying on course to meet your goal and having the self-discipline to do so, separates you from others.

Confidence in yourself is major. You need to believe in yourself first. Otherwise, nothing else and no one else will push you to reach your goals. Having confidence, no matter what, will push you to always try harder and never give up.

These are hard to accomplish! Write it down and remind yourself every day. It takes time, but you’ll get there!

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
