Meet Thamia McClain

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Thamia McClain. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Thamia, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
My optimism comes from knowing God placed everything I need inside of me to accomplish everything I set out for and the scripture to support that states, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 I rely on my faith to help me through doubts and uncertainty. Being optimistic excites me, and I thoroughly enjoy that surge of confidence. So naturally, I am optimistic about all the possibilities, so it comes easy.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My name is Thamia McClain. I am Faith-Driven Entrepreneur & business owner. I am the founder and CEO of a beautiful home fragrance line called Camia’s Scents LLC. I handcraft soy wax candles; soy wax melts, soy wax pillars, and room & linen sprays. Whenever I enter my laboratory (aka my kitchen) to create candles or room sprays, I feel a burst of happiness and gratitude to curate something I can share with the world. But, what is most exciting and special about what I get to do is building from scratch and seeing it come to life. So, my slogan/mantra for Camia’s Scents is ‘Wake up and create something Beautiful” because every day you are gifted is an opportunity to create happiness. I am looking forward to my next launch, my Spring Collection; coming in April 2023, we are going bigger and bolder! Stay tuned!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Any business owner, creative, or entrepreneur should possess optimism, confidence, and resilience. To believe in yourself and what you have to offer will require immense faith. I can speak based on experience that I would not be able to do anything without my faith. God is the actual CEO of the business, and he sustains it. My advice to anyone in the early stages of their journey, get a spiritual life to become rooted; you will need to pull strength and courage for those difficult days you want to throw in the towel. And remember, don’t do what is easy; quitting is much easier than keeping going.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
The Holy Bible is an essential player in my development. Everything you need for guidance, principles, wisdom, etc., is found in the Bible. The Bible states, “And you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.” Deuteronomy 8:18 “Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.” Proverbs 16:3 “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33
