We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Thana Redhawk. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Thana below.
Hi Thana, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from a strong matriarchal lineage. My grandmothers and mother were very strong women.
As mixed indigenous and Spanish women to thrive, they made their way through life facing difficult challenges and choices.
Some of my grandmother were curandera’s. Using medicines from the land and delivering babies for the community. Their resilience is why I’m here today. Their love for community and family set the way for future generations.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am an indigenous Talent Manager. As a Talent Manager, I focus on inspiration, motivation, and guidance for indigenous artists, actors, models and social media influencers.
Being an indigenous, Talent Manager is special because there has been a lack of talent management for indigenous communities.
There is so much talent in the indigenous communities that are underrepresented.
My prayer is to Show the world who we are and represent Indigenous communities properly.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The first quality That I feel is impactful on this Talent management journey is Being an Artist, actor, music producer, and touring spoken Word artist helped me navigate The entertainment industry. With that knowledge and experience, I can help others navigate the entertainment industry Properly.
My advice to anyone starting out in the business is to learn everything that you can and never give up. To learn from others who have experience and apply that in your own journey in the entertainment industry.
All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
The number one obstacle I see in the entertainment industry is the narrative of indigenous People has been incorrect for so long that I feel indigenous people are underestimated with their talents.
By being a Talent Manager , I’m encouraging everyone to follow their inspiration and apply themselves fully into what they are working on. As indigenous people have been under represented or misrepresented for so long together we can all overcome the old narrative of what it means to be in an indigenous person. There is no lack of talent in indigenous communities. There’s just been a lack of opportunity.
