Meet The Messenger

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to The Messenger. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

The Messenger, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
I learned how to be resilient at an early age. I watched my parents endure so much throughout my childhood, but I never seen them give up. Somehow, they always found a way to make things happen for me and my siblings. So, I took that throughout my life to have an attitude of resiliency. Once I joined the army, the culture enhanced my resilient mindset. I’ve encounter different levels of training, to days in the desert, and nights in Afghanistan. So, how I attack my music career, when the situation seems uncertain, I just revert to all of my training from a child to now.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The first quality is individuality. Never be afraid to be yourself. What others considered to be cool doesn’t necessarily mean that is it. Being undeniably yourself is way more cooler than changing yourself to impress others. The second quality is commitment. If you believe in something, go for it and also don’t give up on it. I’ve always had the mindset that if I’m passionate about doing something, I’m going to do it. I never wanted to live my life with regrets, or look back saying I wish I would’ve did something. The third quality is passion. Whenever you put in your mind to do something, do it with 100%. Don’t allow the naysayers to down your ideas or goals. Also be careful who you share your dreams and goals with because not everyone who is around you, is for you.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
My biggest area of growth within myself has been to understand when it’s my time to blow, it’ll be my time. I use to catch myself sometimes being bothered because people I knew either personally or were familiar with were getting there chance to shine and I was still grinding to be known within the music industry. But, I had to understand that when it’s my time, it will be my time. What God has for me is for me and neither I know the day nor time, but I know it is coming. I’m proud of my growth and I will continue to grind inspite of. One thing I do know, I’m not where I was yesterday.
