Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Thomasina Ruth. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Thomasina , so happy you were able to devote some time to sharing your thoughts and wisdom with our community. So, we’ve always admired how you have seemingly never let nay-sayers or haters keep you down. Can you talk to us about how to persist despite the negative energy that so often is thrown at folks trying to do something special with their lives?
I always seem to ignore the haters and negative talk and remind myself that when you’re very intelligent and following your dreams people will criticize you all because you’re doing something that that they want to do…The thing is they dont have the capacity or mental health to pursue their dreams. It then becomes very intimidating and people will look at you as a threat. As I remind myself daily to “Starve my distractions and feed my focus”. At the end of the day it’s all about staying true to your self, your dreams and goal and let nothing or anyone distract you from your destiny.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m a Mother, Author, Entrepreneur, Model/ and actress all the way around. The very most exciting and special thing about it all is the experience during my career process. As a little girl growing up becoming a model and actor was my dream. I would always sit an wonder what it would be like if I ever got the opportunity to pursue my dreams, and here I am in previous prayers. Despite the nay sayers and haters, I honestly have no regrets and this is just the beginning for me. “I can’t stop and I won’t stop”. I embrace every moment the good and the bad because God has given me the opportunity to pursue my dreams.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The most important qualities of knowledge I’ve gained was Consistency, Resilience and Adaptability. I got to admit consistency was much of a struggle in the beginning of my journey especially when you come from an unstable environment and having to adapt to change or some place new. I have to remind myself daily how far I’ve come and how much I have achieved. When I can actually see how my life did a 380, that is enough to show that im doing something right to remain consistent that it has and will get me very far in the long run.
The advice that I would give folks who are early in their journey is to “Trust the process” and “never give up”. Change is very much uncomfortable but sometimes you have let completely go of what you’re used too to prepare yourself for the life you deserve and want.
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
God,My self, My supporters, and my children.
