We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tia Washington a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Tia with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I get my work ethic from wanting to become successful and seeing others succeed in of hopes I one day can be like that.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My career is in tv broadcasting but my side hustle is running a cosmetic business. Tene Alure was established in 2022 that consist of lipgloss, lipliners, lip scrubs, and many more to come. Next month I will be releasing Valentines Day gift sets and a new mascara on my website.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back the qualities I used within my business was to never rush anything. Till this day I’m still learning and trying to take my own advice but don’t rush to put out a product. Make sure that the product is something you would use and it’s fit to perfection before putting it out into the world. Another quality that I take great pride in is organization and planning. Knowing where your materials are just makes everything easier when shipping out orders. Planning is also a great tool, write down some of your business goals and set a date of when you need to finish that goals to keep you on track. Lastly, knowing that not everyone is going to support your brand. Dealing with the realization that your brand may not be for everyone or may not catch everyone’s attention but always try to stand out.
