We recently connected with Tiera Sprauve and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiera, thanks for sitting with us today to chat about topics that are relevant to so many. One of those topics is communication skills, because we live in an age where our ability to communicate effectively can be like a superpower. Can you share how you developed your ability to communicate well?
First, I had to figure out if I actually had something to say and if it was worth being heard. I determined that there was a need to speak up about something or for someone and then that I had to figure out how to get the message out.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My business is providing services to individuals who may just need a little assistance restoring peace and order to their lives. I own and operate a small business providing several services to assist people in their daily lives.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Listen without interrupting, showing up for people, paying attention to details. Listening to people, look at what they are saying and doing, and paying attention can literally save lives. You can help meet the needs of others by simply being quiet and listening sometimes. Being present is not hard.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
I would say…what has been helpful in helping me overcome challenges, not necessarily who….and that’s my service in the Army and all the unpredictable situations I’ve encountered. I entered as a shy and timid 17 year old girl and left as a 38 year old woman, who knew her voice.
