Meet Tierra Hudson

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tierra Hudson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tierra below.

Hi Tierra , so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?

I have learned to thrive in any setting, regardless of whether I am the only one who looks like me, because I don’t focus on being different. Throughout my life, I’ve been in accelerated courses and attended a university where I was a minority, yet I always felt at home. I am a distinctive individual, so I would stand out even in a room full of people who look like me.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

My name is Tierra Hudson, and I am a certified clinical aromatherapist, herbalist, chronic pain advocate, mother, and more. I own Reign Body and Soul Aromatherapy, and my life’s mission is to educate people about the power of holistic healing. Through education and personal products, I empower people to make informed decisions about natural healing.

My latest venture is the Reign and Pressure Holistic Wellness Podcast, which I co-host with my friend Aubrey Taylor. On our podcast, we discuss all aspects of holistic wellness and strive to educate the community. Recently, I conducted my first workshop, “Aromatherapy 101,” where I covered the history and basics of essential oils, safety, dilution, and more. I aim to offer more workshops like this because, while many people have heard of aromatherapy, they often lack understanding of the fundamentals.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

My work ethic, tenacity, and health have significantly shaped my journey. I’ve always been a hard worker because I never wanted anyone to think they gave me anything. My independence drives me to put in the effort.

My health has had the most profound impact due to several chronic illnesses I manage daily. One of the battles I face is with migraines, which I’ve experienced since I was eight years old. In my twenties, they became chronic, causing daily pain that can strain mental health. Navigating life with this constant pain requires careful balance to avoid overexertion. Though my health sometimes slows me down, it has taught me resilience and the ability to handle anything life throws my way.

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?

I am currently navigating the challenge of balancing my time. While working full-time and running my business, I find that managing both my online store and new storefront leaves me with insufficient hours in the day. I have many ideas for new products, workshops, and services, but my work schedule, combined with my responsibilities as a mother, limits my available time. Additionally, with my wedding coming up in October, I am juggling even more. The challenge I face is learning to find balance until I can fully commit to working for myself.
