Meet Tife Chris

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tife Chris a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Tife , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

I believe my resilience comes from a combination of my upbringing, personal challenges, and a deep-seated belief in growth even in adversary.
Growing up in a basic family of six, I learned the importance of being exceptional, of striving to make a difference and carving a path to make things work for myself and for those around me.

My experiences navigating challenges in combining my geological education, creative work, and community projects have shaped my ability to adapt and push forward consistently.
Each experience is an opportunity to learn and grow.

Additionally, my passion for creating meaningful impact motivates me to stay resilient. I remind myself that every step, no matter how small, brings me closer to my goals and allows me to inspire others to do the same.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

resilience, the right networking, and creative storytelling.
Resilience has been the backbone of my journey, helping me overcome challenges, adapt to new environments and navigate the complexities of merging Art, science and community impact. It’s about staying committed even when it’s not convenient.
Also important is networking, but not just in its conventional sense. It’s about building meaningful relationships especially with young people like me, friends who are good at what they do, working together to create something meaningful and learn from each other.it’s not about accumulating a huge number of connections but about cultivating meaningful, value-driven relationships and building genuine connections. This has opened doors to collaborations, mentorships, and opportunities that aligned with my goals. My advice to others is to be intentional with whom you connect with, prioritize relationships that offer mutual learning and growth, start within your circle and always be willing to provide value in return.
Lastly, the ability to tell my story has allowed me to connect with a wide range of audiences and whether through my art, public speaking, or advocacy, storytelling has been a way to inspire action and encourage others to define their own values and discover their purpose as individuals
For those early in their career, my biggest advice is to work smart and stay consistent, have a personal value system, and work towards it, your work should be a reflection of these values. Growth is gradual, and while things get better and progress brings better rewards, they also become more challenging. The earlier we learn to adapt to small changes, plan for the little details, and stay focused, the easier it will be to navigate complex situations down the line. So, invest in the little details.
