We were lucky to catch up with Tiffani Hoburg recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiffani, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Finding my purpose has been a journey through many life experiences. If you would have asked me this question 5 years ago, I would have answered, “I don’t know what my life’s purpose is”. Today, my purpose is crystal clear and fueling my passion and outlook on life in the most beautiful way.
I journeyed through many versions of myself to be where I am right now, and I am sure that I will not be this same version forever too. Life will continue to happen, and I am here for all of it.
Some larger events in my life have led me to my current purpose. Some significant times were the 10 years that I spent in chronic stress that caused extreme fatigue, severe mood swings, on/off digestive issues, anxiety, depression and a dysregulated nervous system that was trying to constantly protect me from myself and my thoughts. I was unaware of the many various tools including nutrition and lifestyle improvements that I could simply make to shift everything for the better in my life. Once I started to see the improvements in all of my symptoms, I was taken back that this was never a discussion with any health professionals that I was seeking to better my quality of life.
Once I took my mental, emotional and physical health into my own hands, I began a journey that I did not even realize I was on a the time. I was simply seeking to feel better mentally and physically without medication that was offered and that I rejected. I am not against all medication, but something deep inside of me was telling me that it was not the best for me.
At the time I was unaware that by treating the root cause of most of my symptoms with nutrition and lifestyle changes alleviated most of my symptoms. Why did most women that I was talking to also not know the simplicity of healing our own bodies from the inside out? Why are we not taught how to heal our bodies with the proper nourishment and tools to reduce stress and ultimately calm the nervous system that believed that we were constantly under attack?
This curiosity, fueled the start to my passion to gain the education and certifications in order to empower others to do the same. I went back to school to gain my Holistic Health Practitioner Certification as well as my Functional Nutrition Counselor Certification. Knowing that everyone of us are unique in beautiful ways, a one-size-fits-all approach was not the way, dieting was not the answer and neither was counting calories nor extreme daily workouts.
In the midst of all of this, my mother was diagnosed with dementia, and she was unwilling to make any changes in her lifestyle in order to improve her quality of life. As difficult as it is to watch a dear loved one decline with this horrible disease, it made me realized that I wanted to have the best quality of life for as long as possible. I want to reverse my age, and I learned how to do this by reversing the age of my cells, my biological age. When I tested my biological age, I am years younger than my chronological age, the trips around the sun.
This began my passion and purpose to educate, support and empower others to do the same and reverse their biological age and in return heal their symptoms by getting to the root cause. In my world, we do not treat symptoms, we work on deeper healing which gains a better quality of life and age reversal.
I currently work with women 40+ looking to combat the inner and outer signs of aging without dieting. I believe we deserve to feel amazing in our bodies and age without symptoms. I was told that the symptoms that I was experiencing years ago were a normal part of aging, and my purpose is to guide others that this is simply not true.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am Tif, a certified Holistic Health Practitioner and Rejuvenation Coach. I love empowering high achieving women to prioritize her health goals to combat the inner and outer signs of aging without dieting. I do not believe in dieting, counting calories or daily extreme workouts. I do believe we can age without the symptoms that we are told are a normal part of aging, and more importantly, we can reverse our age (biological age – age of our cells) to have an amazing quality of life well into the later years of our chronological age (trips around the sun).
I am passionate about working with women 40+ one on one and also in groups in order to customize their nutrition and lifestyle. What works for one may not work for others. We are all unique, so we deserve a unique approach to holistic health that does not treat symptoms, but gets to the root cause of symptoms as well as a long term lifestyle plan customized to each person’s life.
There needs to be balance. Our body is always seeking balance, so health does not have to be al or nothing. We do not have to give up everything we love. Balance one key to longevity, as well as, a mind, body soul approach that is simple and doable for a lifetime.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three areas of knowledge that were the most impactful for me on my journey were 1) reconnecting with my intuition and trusting that that inner sense, 2) working on my mindset and past traumas that I didn’t realize existed, and 3) self love, compassion and patience were pivotal to making lasting changes in my life as well as growing my business.
My advice to those early on any journey is patience and trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be on your journey. It is the challenges and difficult times that we learn the most if we let ourselves view hard times as growth and beautiful experiences that we can learn from to help us and also others along the way.
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
God has been my hope and guiding light to overcome all of my challenges with love and peace at the same time as sadness and despair.
In my past, I tried to take control of my life and lead the charge in all aspects, but it led me to the stressed out state of my being that led me to the symptoms I was unable to shake. I was unable to be present with my family and found myself wishing time away while over preparing, worrying and stress about every detail of my life an my family’s lives. I was not meant to carry this burden. Symptoms are the body’s way of communicating with us, and my symptoms were a cry for help from my soul telling me this.
When I started reconnecting with God, reading my Bible, and leaning on God in every area of my life, I began to feel the biggest internal shift in my state of being. Putting my hope in Jesus to provide, lead and carry me through all challenges has allowed me to experience painful times with joy at the same time.
My latest difficulty has been processing the grief of losing my dog, Chase, a couple of months ago. The grief of losing Chase has ripped through me like I have never experienced before, but putting my hope in God who led me back to all of the tools I have learned when I began my holistic health journey has shown me joy among the pain. I am able to experience both at the same time now, as well as give myself grace, patience and self compassion as I process the grief and sadness.
In everything I am and do in this lifetime, I choose to do it with God in my heart leading and guiding me to use the purpose that he gave me to serve others.
