We were lucky to catch up with Tiffani Nicholle recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiffani, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
Exploring this question feels incredibly relevant as I’ve recently come to realize I was grappling with a touch of imposter syndrome. I found myself hesitating and doubting my place in significant business scenarios, wondering if I truly belonged in those major meetings or if I had the skills to handle substantial brand collaborations. Overcoming this hurdle involved a two-step process: firstly, being candid with myself about these feelings, and secondly, affirming my capabilities and qualifications, acknowledging the effort I’ve dedicated to get where I am.
Understanding the root causes of those feelings—whether it was the fear of failure, comparing myself to others, or setting unrealistic standards—was crucial. Through embracing vulnerability, reframing my thoughts, setting realistic goals and expectations, and cultivating self-compassion I’ve been able to overcome imposter syndrome and enjoy the journey.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My professional journey started in the realm of music, a passion that led me to me to explore the inner workings of the entertainment industry’s business side. To my surprise, this journey catapulted me headfirst into the dynamic realm of business, revealing a natural affinity for business acumen that I quickly honed.
Presently, my professional focus revolves around business strategy, project management, and the dynamic field of business development. I’ve witnessed firsthand how creatives wrestle with the complexities of business navigation know-how. That fuels my drive to make a difference and bridge the gap between business and creativity.
In my current capacity as a project manager, I’m part of team that is dedicated to a cause close to my heart: providing early STEAM access to underserved communities. The work we undertake is not merely a professional endeavor; it is a catalyst for change. It’s about laying the groundwork for the future, and I am deeply cognizant of the transformative impact early access to resources can have on the trajectory of black and brown children’s futures as it is a vital step in preparing them for the careers of the future.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Three pivotal skills that shaped my journey were my curiosity, unwavering determination, and the relentless drive to keep learning. It’s common for people to settle into a sense of comfort once they reach a certain milestone or feel proficient in a skill. But for me, I believe leaving room for growth and continual improvement is essential.
One crucial piece of advice: never halt your curiosity. The ability to pose insightful questions and embrace feedback has been a game-changer in my career trajectory. However, it’s equally vital to balance this with confidence in the skills and knowledge you already possess.
For those just embarking on their journey, my guidance is simple: stay curious, exude confidence, and ask the kind of questions that spark innovation and progress!
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Absolutely! I’m actively seeking collaborations with fellow creatives. My journey has been all about championing the importance of embracing your current stage while staying true to your unique path. My mission now is to serve as a lifeline for creatives like me, especially those from underserved communities craving the resources to flourish professionally. I’m looking to connect with individuals that are hungry to delve into the world of business, discovering strategies to shape their passions into robust business models.
My mission is to be an invaluable resource within our community, empowering others to thrive professionally.
