Meet Tiffany Anton

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tiffany Anton. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tiffany below.

Hi Tiffany, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
Looking on the bright side of things is not always the easier way to go in life, but it definitely makes for a happier life overall. When I think of being resilient, it doesn’t feel like I have any magic ingredient that someone else can’t achieve themselves. I feel like I keep going because there are goals that I want to achieve and in order to do that, you have to keep going. My dad instilled a work ethic in me from a young age that brought light to the rewards that come to those who work hard and have lofty goals. I think that having a positive attitude really helps when it comes to resilience but so does feeling all your feelings and making sure that you keep moving. Over thinking is a sure fire way to get stuck.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I was blessed with the opportunity to create the Powered By Her brand in 2019 when we launched a podcast. At the time, I felt really driven to help women tell their stories of entrepreneurship in order to provide inspiration to others. Over time, Powered By Her has evolved. We are now a weekly podcast that sees over a thousand downloads a month, we have monthly Lunch & Learn events to provide connections, and we are in the process to launch Powered By Her Kenya as a way to give back. One of the key elements of doing “your thing” is to always be evolving to keep things fresh. It can be really easy to burn out, especially in a space where you provide support to others. Over the last 4.5 years, there have been times that I have questioned what I am doing and if it has value. Each time that I find myself in that headspace, I look for opportunities to create something else and make a bigger impact. Right now, we are most excited about launching a mentoring community in Kenya where we will be able to impact generational poverty.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The number one quality that has impacted my journey is my ability to draw in others who have skills that I lack. When launching a podcast, I am great at talking to people and drawing out their story. I am not great at the technical part so I found a great producer to work with. For our Lunch & Learns, I wasn’t sure what topics people would be interested in so I created a committee to iron out the details with me.

Another quality of mine that impacted the Powered By Her journey is my passion and heart to help others. I have always had a deep desire to make a lasting impact on my community. Since we have launched, we have touched hundreds of women in different ways. That passion has always helped me draw out amazing stories of women in their own business journeys.

A third quality is my tenacity to keep going. When COIVD hit and recording podcasts became more difficult, we had to pivot. When it became difficult (but necessary) to meet at lunches, we did video calls online. When it felt like just telling other’s stories was getting redundant, I started weekly podcasts with topics that would resonate with female founders. Having tenacity helps to keep growing and changing constantly.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Collaboration is the heart of small business. Finding women who want to connect with the Powered By Her brand to spread community, inspiration, support and connections is key to making the greatest impact possible. I would love to find places that would like to launch their own Powered By Her lunches or who are interested in launching Powered By Her mentoring within their own communities. I am also looking for internationally minded women who want to grow our Powered By Her Kenya community with fundraising efforts.  I love new ideas and want to connect with others.
