Meet Tiffany Bobo

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tiffany Bobo. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Tiffany , thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
I keep my creativity alive by allowing myself to stay engaged and learning new trends and skills. Trying new recipes and experimenting with different flavor combinations is always exciting… who would have thought Red Velvet and Keylime would pair so well. Along with trying different flavor profiles I also enjoy trying different design techniques which allows me to take a deeper dive into my creative side. Engaging in different workshops and classes is also inspiring and motivating. For the last two years I have attended the Brown Sugar Cake Retreat which was a phenomenal retreat and helped rejuvenate my love for making and designing cakes and treats. Making cakes definitely has it’s challenges, but you have to challenge youself. Sometimes the cake design idea that is presented to me seems like it is out of my scope and I start to doubt myself, but I don’t give up. I research techniques and practice techniques until I achieve the design I’m going for. When I present the cakes and treats to my clients the smiles are everything. Being able to make someone’s day and make them feel special means the world to me, which drives me to keep growing and being creative.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back I would say patience is extremely important. Allowing yourself to be patient and trust the process is key. Also understanding that your journey is your journey, don’t compare your journey to anyone else’s. Everyone’s timing is different, so wait patiently for your time.  Don’t give up if things aren’t progressing as quickly as you thought they would, it takes time.

I would also say having an open mindset. Allow yourself to always be a student no matter how much experience you have, you can always learn and grow. Stay committed to learning and evolving. Attend baking classes, workshops, and industry events. Read books, follow blogs, and stay informed about the latest trends to keep your skills and knowledge current.  Also be open to feedback, as feedback can be a gift. Embrace feedback, both positive and constructive. Use it as a tool for improvement. Regularly ask customers for their thoughts, and don’t be afraid to adjust your approach based on the responses.

Communication is highly important as well Being able to effectively communicate your ideas if essential to the growth of your business and your development as an entrepreneur. No matter want field you are in develop relationships with others in that field, create yourself a network it’s not always a competition. It’s a community of individuals out here willing to help you become the best version of you, you just have to be open to it.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
When feeling overwhelmed I take a moment to step back and reset. I have to tell myself that it will be okay and that it will work itself out and give it my best. Sometimes just getting some fresh air, taking a moment to breathe, or just taking a nap helps provide some clarity and helps me get focused on the task at hand. I break down tasks into smaller, more manageable steps. Focus on what needs immediate attention and tackle one thing at a time, is also helpful. I have a quote by William J.H. Boetcher that has been so inspiring to me and had helped me know I can overcome anything and be successful even when I am overwhelmed which is ” Nevermind what others do. Do better than yourself, beat your own record from day to day, and you are a success “. Knowing that I am growing and getting better everyday, even if it’s a small win, it’s still a win and is still an achievement to celebrate.
