Meet Tiffany Chaney

We were lucky to catch up with Tiffany Chaney recently and have shared our conversation below.

Tiffany, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

My confidence and self-esteem are byproducts of my healing journey in Jesus Christ. I came from the mindset that working to earn equated to deserving every element of my life. I am deemed a dedicated and solution-oriented woman who gives way for people to seek me out for their various life issues. I later realized that being who God created me to be is enough. I stopped focusing on the doing and took time to discover my identity outside of what I do. It has made all the difference.

The journey for me started during the process of ending an abusive marriage where I was seeking help for myself within my local community after being in jail for 2 weeks for defending myself. I started therapy and participated with the Veteran Spouses Network after being released. Thankfully, I could continue to work 2 jobs and attend classes online. This occurred in 2019. Yes, I had a full schedule throughout the week consisting of full-time and part-time employment along with part-time online classes. I had to conclude that I did not want my life to be the same way for five years and had to make dramatic and uncomfortable changes with uncertainty. I have not regretted at all.

I got to know myself again and with the help of life coaching sessions, I understood where my mindset originated thinking that I was not deserving of anything better than what I settled for. Once I clearly came to the realization that I am more than what I thought, I made sure that I treated myself even better. I would treat people better than myself. I started to convert that same mindset toward others to myself daily. I started to know and understand myself unapologetically consistently embracing that the criticisms of others are the elements of how God created me. As I continue to change my environment, internally and externally, my confidence and self-esteem became healthy and stable knowing that I am truly my best investment overall.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I obtained a Bachelor of Human Resources Management at TAMUCT in 2022 and became a certified career coach in 2023. Dealing with people is a joy and a challenge because the root of the issue is what makes the difference. I listen to people to understand and when a response is necessary, people know that they are seen and heard throughout the process. TNicole Coaching is a coaching business for all people looking for ways to improve personally and professionally. I have started to develop workshops giving people a group coaching session understanding the strategy is personalized based on where you are and the position you would like to develop into.

People do not think about the various skills they have developed over the years within the work environment and settle for less than the best in the job market. There are countless times when I would review and edit a resume that I would call the client to inform them of the various they have and during conversations, they realize the skills they developed within their various positions. Volunteerism produces the most passionate and devoted employees overall because their goals, knowledge, skills, and abilities are aligned with a cause that is important to them.

I like to be in the local community as often as possible since I am a full-time federal employee and currently purusing an MBA in Strategic HR Management at TAMUCT. I make time for people who are committed to making their necessary changes to produce the life they know they can have. Everyone is different and unique; therefore, coaching is not a cookie-cutter endeavor.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Becoming a master of knowing who you are in every stage of life is a necessary skill. God has shown me in different aspects in every area of my life where I can improve and can quickly recognize that what I did years ago does not work for me because I am different from that time. I have learned how to develop this skill outside of the opinions of people being the focus.

Knowing not to judge or be harsh to myself on my healing journey. There is no deadline for me to be healed in the various invisible wounds I have. I have permitted myself to take as long as I need in this journey. No one can influence this journey except God and me.

God truly knows what is best during the process and will not leave you. He is true to who He is and His Word. He is so stable and loving to correct me in the journey.

Leaving people out of your overall equation of doing what God has called you and how He designed you makes the difference. This recognition helped me to continue onward. Relationships show you first and the focus is still on you and how are you developing within relationships. Relationships do not always mean romantically or family. It is professional and spiritual. How you think of yourself reflects within the relationships you have with others.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

The Value of the Valley by Iylanla Vandt and You’re a Badass by Jennifer Sincero are the books I was reading once I moved out and the divorce was finalized. Those books have shown me where I was and how valuable the journey is to discover the necessary versions of myself while letting others’ versions go and embracing the new versions of myself in the process. Everything that I was aware of dealing with myself, I understood and developed a strategy. I journal regularly and did so more while reading those books.

I developed a deeper appreciation of myself and God who created me. He truly did not make a mistake. As time went on, I understand and know my position within His Kingdom.
