Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tiffany Colon. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tiffany, so great to have you on the platform and excited to have you share your wisdom with our community today. Communication skills often play a powerful role in our ability to be effective and so we’d love to hear about how you developed your communication skills.
While baking is a passion of mine, I have a Doctorate in Audiology and I am also a medical device sales representative, covering many states in the Southeast. Through clinical practice and seeing patients for hearing aid evaluations, I learned quite a lot about empathy and patience while working with complex cases, many of whom were children. When I transitioned to working in medical sales, it became routine to attend workshops on communicating effectively and power speaking. At the start of my journey as a field representative, I was nervous to be in front of a room of people. It required repeated and frequent immersion in public speaking to gain confidence. Just this week, I enjoyed presenting to a room of 60 professionals. If you’d like to improve your own skills, I recommend recording your presentations and watching them back, as uncomfortable as it may be. I always give my attendees a QR code for anonymous feedback so I can continue improving upon my content. I’ll add that the ability to handle feedback is an acquired skill, but when you learn not to take it so personally, it undoubtedly grows your communicative skill set. This has also helped me lead very fun, interactive cookie decorating classes. We hope to see you at one soon!

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
There are so many amazing bakers in the Greater Charleston area, so I knew when I was starting out, it would be important to differentiate my services. I have an edible printer that I can print logo cookies, printed designs and photos, as well as a 3D printer so I can custom print any unique cookie cutter to match any theme. I host cookie classes once a month at Ophelia’s Wines & Bites with a different theme each class.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Time management, prioritization and the ability to handle a high level of stress is critical when booking client’s most sacred events. Whether it’s their grandchild’s 8th birthday or a wedding, it is important to get all of the details right. As a single mom, I am fortunate to have a lot of support in my village. Nothing is a one-person show.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I’ve collaborated with some amazing businesses, including Raising Rose Kitchen, The Look & Co, Break Free Pelvic Health & Wellness, HB Digital Marketing, Quick Tan Sunless and many others. They’ve utilized logo cookies as marketing tools and we’ve ensured the relationship is mutually beneficial at the outset.
