Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tiffany Marsh. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tiffany , appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
I’d like to think staying true to feelings and life experiences (whether being firsthand or from third point of view) allows me to keep my creativity alive. I’m a lover of music and great musicians which not only feeds my soul but also opens me up as an artist myself. For me, music is very influential but life can be the best teacher for laying out those feelings/views. The world is ever-changing and so is music/sound. Being free, openminded when it comes to art keeps me grounded and maintains my appreciation for music – hence I love to create my own.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m a singer/songwriter with a love for connecting with people through feeling and melody. I’m also an entertainer/live performer that absolutely loves to vibe with any audience. Although I’ve been singing what feels like all of my life, I started writing music in 2020 and have been fortunate enough to sing alongside some of the greats! I love authentic music of any genre with a special liking to RnB music.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Three qualities that have been most impactful to my journey would be staying consistent, authentic, and hungry for next. Like most, I can be my worst critic which can oftentimes lead to discouragement, but in that moment also comes true identity. I study myself to find areas of improvement and moments where I can add/subtract and that has help me not only remain grounded, but hungry. I’d advise anyone with a passion and goal to make it in that journey, to stay hungry and believe in self. listen to those that constantly ask “why aren’t you playing here, when is your next single dropping, when is your next show” because though they are often individuals you don’t have the closest relationship with – they will encourage you the most. I find strength in just that so understanding what feeds your drive/desire is important. If you’re a painter, go to as many art shows as possible. Even if you’re not in a space to paint.. Go, and you just might be inspired or simply learn something you can use for later to enhance your craft.
What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
I struggle with my own thoughts – Overthinking. Especially when it comes to music and what to do next. As an artist, at times I can feel as if I’m simply not doing enough or battling with the thought of what to do next. One next finding complacency can also drive one crazy with always wanting to top the last deed. I’m learning to trust God’s timing and allow for things to naturally flow. Great things takes time and I never want to rush an album or performance so I’m working to trust the process. Even now.
