Meet Tiffany Sauvageau

We recently connected with Tiffany Sauvageau and have shared our conversation below.

Tiffany, we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?

I developed my generosity from once having nothing and others being so compassionate and giving to me. During a time in my younger years, let’s just say I wasn’t my best self and would take more than I would receive. I can proudly say it is quite the opposite these days. Generosity isn’t just a monetary thing. You can be generous and provide your time, a helping hand, give advice, or be an ear/shoulder for others. And I believe I do just that.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am proud co-owner of Savvy Cleaning and Savvy Kitchen! Savvy Cleaning is a cleaning service in Fargo, North Dakota that specializes in cleaning the common areas of apartment buildings along with move in/move out services. However, we don’t stop there! We also clean office spaces, clinics, fitness centers. Pretty much everything minus lived in homes. Savvy Kitchen is a food trailer that was at Newman Outdoor Field here in Fargo the past year. We are hoping to pull away from that next year and show up at local events. Our current menu has hand pattied smash burgers, philly cheesesteak sandwiches, fries with a special seasoning, cheese curds, beer battered onion rings, and mac n cheese bites. The menu might take a different turn come next year though! The most exciting part about owning these businesses is getting to connect with local business owners and helping them keep their spaces clean and being able to feed people. If you want to connect with someone, make them a meal.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that I find were most impactful in my journey is to first be yourself. Just be you and the right people will like you and want to do business with you. Second, communication is a skill I take pride in. Having effective communication skills allows you to express yourself and improve both your personal and professional relationships. Lastly, another skill I found impactful along my journey is a positive attitude. I am a firm believer in ‘things happen’. If something isn’t going as planned, remind yourself how the outcome may even be better than imagined. I personally recommend attending your local networking groups to grow your communication skills and your sense of community. Don’t be scared to just be yourself and throw yourself out there.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

My husband is my business partner so I would have to say he has most definitely been the most helpful person to me when I am experiencing some challenges within our business. It’s great to have someone else to talk out the business problems with that experiences them firsthand as well. We have developed many essential skills and qualities together that has helped our businesses be successful. Some of the skills or areas we have learned to make our businesses successful are marketing skills, communication and negotiation, along with strong time management skills and the ability to delegate tasks. I have learned how to build effective and efficient full-time schedules for our 5 employees, and he has learned the ins and outs of bookkeeping. Thank goodness for that!
