Meet Tim Anderson

We were lucky to catch up with Tim Anderson recently and have shared our conversation below.

Tim, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

By accident, as far as I’m concerned. I wrote a book about returning to the movements we were born to make and the book fell into the right hands at the time. This lead to an opportunity to teach others how they are designed to move so that they can feel amazing in their own bodies. Since I wrote that book, I’ve written 13 more and I’ve been able to teach all over the world as well as inside professional and collegiate sports organizations. Teaching people about the wonders hidden in their own body is my purpose.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I get to help people remember how they were designed to move. I remind people that they were born to be strong and healthy. None of us were created to be weak, frail, or fragile. We are resilient on the inside and the outside. All we have to do to realize our resilience is to simple live in our design – move in the ways we were born to move.

Over time, with life’s distractions and stressors, most people forget how to breathe, how to move, and how to think. My company, Original Strength is a movement education company. We remind people how to move so that they can “Press RESET” on their bodies and restore their ability to live their lives well.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

1) Faith – I’ve always had faith. Not just in God, but also in a sense that everything is going to work out. I believe. If something is not the way I want it, I’m going to find a way to change it. And, I’m going to believe that I’ll get there.

2) Saying “YES,” Taking a chance and putting myself out there – When I wrote that first book, I took a chance. When I tried to publish it on my own, I took a chance. When I was asked to speak to a group of people about their design, I said, “yes,” and took a chance. When I applied to speak at National Health Conventions, I took a chance. I’ve put myself out there. I write books, whether or not anyone reads them. I created a youtube channel with over 600 videos – whether or not anyone watches them.

3) I show up. I explore moving every day. I practice writing regularly. I make videos every week. These habits help me create content, they help me learn new things, and they help me become a better communicator. Showing up regularly is essential to building anything worth having.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

They loved me.
