Meet Tim Arnwine

We were lucky to catch up with Tim Arnwine recently and have shared our conversation below.

Tim, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?

I began ghost hunting over 20 years ago when the field was beginning to catch fire. I was never ridiculed when I discussed what I did, but I noticed they would shy away. I never got discouraged because I was investigating for me, the journey to look for answers. I noticed the trend went towards, people wanting to tell their story or experiences with a ghost.
For ten years, I have been giving lectures and leading public investigations at historic locations. My optimism has grown from the spike of attendance and enthusiasm of these events. Another exciting fact is, and that ghost hunting is a year-round interest.
Many of my lectures and appearances include kids, I am amazed about how much they know about the equipment we use and their uses during an investigation.
My most optimistic feeling is the team I work with, Afterlife Allstars. It is reassuring to see how the field is being passed down to such committed people. Our goal is to look for answers to the client’s concerns and to improve the field. It is a joy to work with a team that always puts the client and or guests first and to strives to run an honest investigation and present honest evidence.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am the Co-Founder of Afterlife Allstars, a Ghost Hunting team based in South Florida. Combined, our team has over 40 years’ experience in the field. We conduct investigations for anyone who has concerns of paranormal activity in their residence or business. We never charge for an investigation; we are there to look for answers to their concerns. These types of investigations are rewarding.
The real excitement comes from our Public Investigations. The Afterlife Allstars teams up with historic locations to host Public Investigations. We present a lecture on the subject of Ghost Hunting and the equipment we use during an investigation. The guest then investigates with the team, to their comfort level. They can participate in experiments and recording (EVPs) sessions. They are part of the team for the evening. All funds raised through ticket sales are pure fund raising for the location.
If you are in the South Florida area or visiting and wish to participate in a real ghost hunt, please like and check in with the afterlifeallstars Instagram for details of upcoming events. The Instagram for our team also has contributions from our team members and where we post evidence.
I have a weekly tutorial series on the field of ghost hunting, titled Hump Day Happenings on my Instagram, longhairghosthunter as well the Afterlife Allstars IG. I am most proud that our team always puts the client and guest as top priority to their concerns and experience.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Over the past twenty plus years, it has been a journey of watching the explosion of popularity in our field. The journey has included investigating, educating and building teams. I have always strived to keep three standards in my practice in the field.
1. Empathy/Understanding: When a client contacts you with their concerns of paranormal activity, they do not need a skeptic or someone to ridicule what they are experiencing. People respond differently to something they do not understand, especially if there are children involved. Listen with an open mind and be there for them.
2.Honesty: This field is seen by many skeptics. I always close a lecture and/or tutorial video with the same ending…Be careful, be safe and always run an honest investigation. Even if you do not find any evidence, you not only owe to the client to present honest evidence and impression of the situation, but you also owe to yourself and your team.
3. Be Knowledgeable: You must be at least proficient with your equipment and investigation process. If you are proficient, the client will have faith in your evidence or more important, if you do not get any evidence. You do not always capture evidence. But if you were “fumbling” with the equipment and process, the client may think that you didn’t know what you were doing.
I believe these standards can only add to your creditability and in the long run, help the field.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Looking back on my childhood, my parents left me with many lessons. The two I found valuable in this field was to always be open to all possibilities and have a curious mind.
I began my journey, curious to find out what happens after we die. I asked the question, is there something more than plucking our body into the ground. Today, with every investigation, we look for answers or a contact using the faithful tools and processes of any standard investigation. But we also always introducing or retesting an experiment to think outside of the box and discover other possibilities to make contact.
I strive to always be honest with myself and the client. I believe to achieve that goal you must have an open mind to all possibilities of the activity that the client contacted you about. Majority of the time, the activity is not paranormal, Reasons have varied from electrical leak causing EMF spikes to animal activity. Several investigations were to investigate strange noises, only to find a family of raccoons living in the crawl space.
A curious mind with the discipline to first look for other reasons for the activity, will help you find answers to your client’s concerns, the reason you are in this field.
