Meet Tim Richmond

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tim Richmond. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Tim, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

I found my purpose to start Tru Authenticity, PLLC by combining my personal journey with my passion for helping others show up as their true selves. Throughout my career and life experiences, I noticed how often people — myself included — felt pressured to conform or hide parts of who they are. I wanted to create a space and platform that encourages people, especially entrepreneurs and creatives, to embrace authenticity as their superpower.

It wasn’t an overnight realization; it was the result of many conversations, moments of self-reflection, and recognizing the impact of living aligned with my values. I felt called to build something that not only supports growth and professional success, but also uplifts people’s genuine stories and voices. That purpose became the foundation for Tru Authenticity.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am from Washington, D.C. and was born and raised in Huntsville, AL. Tru Authenticity, PLLC was born out of a personal mission that became bigger than myself. For years, I navigated spaces — both professional and personal — where authenticity often took a back seat to fitting in. I witnessed firsthand how many talented entrepreneurs, creatives, and leaders struggled to show up fully as themselves, sometimes dimming their own light to meet expectations.

At a certain point, I realized that my greatest fulfillment came from helping others embrace who they truly are — not just what they do. That’s when Tru Authenticity was formed. I wanted to build more than just a business; I wanted to create a movement and a safe space for people to thrive by being real, raw, and unapologetically themselves. Today, Tru Authenticity helps individuals and brands tap into what makes them unique, guiding them to not only achieve success but to do it on their own terms — with integrity, confidence, and purpose.

As part of its lifestyle brand, Tru Authenticity, PLLC offers a curated line of premium trucker hats. Each hat is designed to make a statement and encourage people to stand out, express themselves, and wear their authenticity proudly.

Tru Authenticity, PLLC is excited to expand its lifestyle offerings with a new line of hand-poured candles—coming soon. Each candle will be thoughtfully crafted to create moments of calm, inspiration, and authentic living.

Tru Events, under the umbrella of Tru Authenticity, PLLC, proudly hosts experiences like @TruSundazeDC. These events are designed to bring people together in vibrant, uplifting spaces that celebrate community, culture, and living life authentically.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, there are three qualities and skills that I believe were most impactful on my journey building Tru Authenticity:

1. Resilience & Adaptability:

Building anything meaningful comes with inevitable setbacks, disappointments, and curveballs. My ability to bounce back, pivot when needed, and stay committed to the bigger vision — even when the path shifted — was absolutely critical.

Advice: You build resilience by doing hard things repeatedly, surrounding yourself with people who encourage your growth, and learning to see challenges as opportunities to refine your purpose.

2. Emotional Intelligence & Relationship Building:

At the heart of Tru Authenticity is connecting deeply with people. Understanding different perspectives, building trust, and communicating with empathy have been essential to serving clients well and growing meaningful partnerships.

Advice: You can develop this by truly listening more than you speak, being curious about others’ stories, and reflecting often on how your actions impact those around you.

3. Strategic Thinking & Vision:

Having a clear, evolving vision for Tru Authenticity — paired with the discipline to set priorities and not get distracted by every new opportunity — has kept me on track.

Advice: Take time to step back from the day-to-day, write down your vision, and revisit it often. Seek feedback from people who will challenge you to think bigger or differently.

If I could sum it up:

Focus on building your inner foundation first. The skills and strategies matter, but the mindset, relationships, and clarity of purpose will sustain you when things get tough. Be patient with yourself — growth is a process, and every experience, even the hard ones, is adding a critical layer to your success story.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

The people who’ve been most helpful in helping me overcome challenges and build the essential skills, qualities, and knowledge I needed to succeed with Tru Authenticity, PLLC are undoubtedly my parents. Growing up alongside my twin sister, I learned by watching them day in and day out. Their work ethic, determination, and resilience set a powerful example. From them, I developed not only my own work ethic, but also the mindset and core skills that continue to guide me through the demands of entrepreneurship and leadership today
