Meet Tim Sabatino

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tim Sabatino. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tim below.

Hi Tim, appreciate you sitting with us today. Maybe we can start with a topic that we care deeply about because it’s something we’ve found really sets folks apart and can make all the difference in whether someone reaches their goals. Self discipline seems to have an outsized impact on how someone’s life plays out and so we’d love to hear about how you developed yours?
I believe that it is my duty, obligation and responsibility to be successful. I am a husband and father of 2 children so I owe it to my family. This requires self-discipline. My grandfather was my father figure and he was an excellent example. He was always at work. The house was always clean. We always had good food on our plates. My Mother was also a great example because she raised 3 boys by herself as a hair stylist. I am always happier when I am producing. When I am working and completing cycles my moral goes way up. Self-discipline is probably one of the most challenging but definitely is the most rewarding.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am the owner of Infiniti Ranch and the founder of the Horse Camp for Actors. Infiniti Ranch is an equestrian movie ranch set up for shoots for commercials, music videos, movies and photography.

I am mainly focused on my career as a director. My love of advertising, cars and horses has led me to specialize in directing and producing car commercials and any TV, movies and commercials with horses.

This all came about as my career in entertainment has evolved over the years. I started out as a model in the late 80s and was represented by Wilhelmina. This evolved into acting after studying acting for 7 years in Los Angeles and I was represented by the same talent agent for 20 years. This evolved into stunt driving and have been doing that for over 25 years having booked top movies like Fast and the Furious and Batman, Dark Knight Rises where I earned a SAG award nomination. I’ve been doing all of this while doing my day job of photography where I have photographed many celebrities, fashion and head shots and advertising shoots. Photography has been my main bread and butter for 30 years and this is how I’ve supported myself. With this extensive background in camera and lighting, I have booked many jobs as a gaffer, grip and electric.

After working diligently in all of these fields and booking over 5,000 photo shoots, 150 TV commercials, 50+ TV and feature films and dozens of music videos, I discovered my love of directing. I have been lucky enough to have been able to direct A list celebrities and hundreds of talented actors and models in my career.

With the never ending interest in the Western genre, there will always be movies and TV shows with horses. This is why I created the Horse Camp for Actors at my ranch in Atlanta. Actors have come from all over the nation to learn, ride, rehearse and shoot scenes on horseback. We include new head shots and a photo shoot with a horse. Actors go home with a new scene for their reel and tons of new content with horses for their promotions. I’ve partnered up with my wife who is a horse trainer and gives riding lessons while I shoot the photography and direct the scenes.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Communication skills and being able to control a set with many particles in motion including many cast and crew. My background of directing thousands of advertising photo shoots with large cast and crew has given me the experience to get really good at it. I have also trained in many advanced communication courses and this I believe has been the most effective.

My advice is to seek out self improvement courses for ones self and do them. We are very capable beings and are able to learn forever. The more you improve yourself the easier it is to stay on top of the competition and do well in your career. I recommend courses in communication as the most important.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
The Problems of Work by L. Ron Hubbard is a book that has helped me with my business tremendously. It has helped me to understand how to handle confusion in the workplace and that alone gives me the confidence to control a shoot with many cast and crew.
