Meet Tina Hurley

We were lucky to catch up with Tina Hurley recently and have shared our conversation below.

Tina, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
My story led me to my purpose: https://www.lesslegmoreheart.com/a-note-from-our-founder I founded the 501(c)3 nonprofit Less Leg More Heart in 2019 after recognizing unaddressed needs and care gaps within the limb loss community that were leading to negative mental, financial, social, economic and medical outcomes as well as negatively impacting our healthcare systems. My unique experience as both an amputating clinician and an amputee, paired with my comprehensive understanding of limb loss, intrinsic passion to serve and motivation to improve the limb loss continuum of care led to the development of this organization.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am a New Hampshire native, single mother to a young boy, former competitive gymnast/ cheerleader/ crossfitter, exercise physiologist, Board Certified Physician Associate, amputee, Founder/ CEO of the national limb loss support advocation system Less Leg More Heart and an avid student of life.

My limb loss story and “why” behind the creation of my foundation can be found here: https://www.lesslegmoreheart.com/a-note-from-our-founder

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Adaptability, Gratitude, and Grit

To develop or improve these qualities, invest in your own personal development. Lean into resources. Connect with individuals that are where and how you want to be. Give yourself grace as you stumble and start putting tools in your toolbelt to serve your community. You rise by lifting others.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Our organization is growing and we are looking for: 1. Volunteers. Areas of need include: board directorship, marketing/media, grant writing, events/fundraising, community outreach, donor stewardship, technology (salesforce and related app integration knowledge is required), finance, and operations. Positions are flexible and remote. If you are interested, please connect with us here: https://www.lesslegmoreheart.com/volunteer-prospect
2. Business partners: In-kind donations, corporate sponsorships, profit matches, employee giving programs, comarketing
