Tina, thrilled to have you on the platform as I think our readers can really benefit from your insights and experiences. In particular, we’d love to hear about how you think about burnout, avoiding or overcoming burnout, etc.
As a full time entrepreneur it’s easy to feel burned out and want to give up. Entrepreneurship can be hard, but what I have learned is to always remember my WHY?!?!?!? And for myself and my small business my WHY?!?!?! is my business partner. My daughter and building a legacy for her and generations to come. Even with the day to day struggles in business, when one could easily feel overwhelmed remember your reason you started, your vision and dream that know one sees but you. Use that as a pillar and catalyst to push through and overcome the feeling of being burnt out.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am part owner of an all natural haircare company name Coca Crown. My small business is operated by myself and my teenage daughter. We have been in business for three years and this business was gifted to my teenage daughter at the age of 16yrs old as a birthday gift. We both have an extreme passion for haircare and helping others achieve their haircare needs. Growing up I had such a love and passion for haircare that I became a licensed cosmologist. I begin to see the same spark in my daughter at the age of 13yrs old. My daughter embraced her natural hair, she loved her natural curls and begin to research how to make natural haircare products and begin creating them for her hair. As I watched her create these products for her hair and how they begin to make her hair grow. I knew she had something, the first products we came out with in our collection was the Rice water and Rice water product line such as hair oil, shampoo & conditioner and Hair Milk which all contains Rice water. The product made her hair grow and thicken. This is when we created Coca Crown, a natural haircare company for natural girls with natural curls. We know to date have 6 Collections for various hair types and needs. We offer branding merchandise as well. Our products our sold in a retail store downriver, Super Dollar Center located at 2170 Dix Hwy Lincoln Park, MI 48146. They also can be found on our website Cocacrown.bigcartel.com.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three qualities, skills and areas of knowledge that were most impactful on our journey would be first our resilience to never give up and follow our dreams. Secondly is to remain consistent in our journey and catch any curve balls that maybe thrown at us along the way in this journey. Lastly number three would be that we are hard workers and our hard work has helped us achieve the goals we set out to achieve. Our journey .has not been smooth, but it has been very rewarding. We take pride in knowing our products are changing lives daily. Our products help customers embrace their natural beauty and feeling good about waring their natural hair. We have been faced with several obstacles as small business owners but keeping the faith and knowing our reason for starting this journey has keep us going.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
We are looking to collaborate with any local hair styles, to try our products out on their clients and achieve their hair goals which can vary, hair growth, hair thickness and to prevent damage and brakeage. We have products for several different haircare needs. We our also looking to partner with local Beauty Supply store’s and Retail store’s to sell our products to more consumers.
