Meet Tionna Peak

We were lucky to catch up with Tionna Peak recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Tionna, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
I’ve always been accustomed to working hard and doing my best. As a student, educator, and as an entrepreneur, I have always tried to do my best, even when learning new techniques etc. When you learn something new, there is always a learning curve. Although, my trainers/teachers told me that I was a natural, I was very hard on myself.

I let perfectionism/imposter syndrome take hold of me when starting my business. Of course, with practice, I got better with my craft, but I wanted to be perfect when I first started learning cosmetic tattooing and other business practices. I let perfectionism get in the way of stepping out on faith. Perfectionism can lead to procrastination, and we all know that procrastination is not something that we want running rapid in our business or personal lives. So, I remembered what I practiced as a Special Educator, I often gave my students grace when learning something new, and I applied that concept to myself. I started giving myself the same grace, that I gave others. At that moment, is when my life changed and imposter syndrome no longer had control. I often remind myself:
1.I am not perfect, but I’m doing my best.
2.I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Phil 4:13),my favorite scripture.
3.I will make mistakes, and that’s OKAY.
4.I deserve the same grace I give others.
5.There is power in YET ( I don’t have everything figured out YET), a Growth Mindset principle.
6.I am doing good!

These reminders have turned into daily affirmations and removed any foothold that imposter syndrome has had in my life.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My name is Tionna Peak. I am an Educator and the owner of Onni’s Blush PMU Studio in Jacksonville, FL. PMU stands for Permanent Makeup, which is a type of Cosmetic Tattooing. Onni’s Blush PMU Studio offers a variety of Permanent Makeup/Cosmetic Tattooing services, Stretch Mark/Scar Camouflage, Saline Tattoo Removal, Professional Teeth Whitening (1 Hour sessions), and for all of our followers who may not be in the Jacksonville, FL area, we do offer Take-Home Teeth Whitening Kits that can be shipped nationwide.

Cosmetic tattooing, also known as Permanent Makeup, is a revolutionary technique that uses a tattoo machine to deposit pigment into the skin, creating a natural-looking enhancement to your features. Whether you want to define your eyebrows, line your eyes, or add color to your lips, cosmetic tattooing can save you time and give you a flawless look that lasts for years.

But Cosmetic Tattooing isn’t just for beauty enhancements. Paramedical tattooing is a specialized form of tattooing that can help improve the appearance of scars, burns, and other skin imperfections. This technique involves using tattoo pigments to match your skin tone and camouflage the affected area, making it less noticeable and restoring your confidence.

So, what makes Cosmetic and Paramedical Tattooing so special? For starters, it’s a safe and effective way to achieve the look you want without the hassle of daily makeup application. Plus, with the help of a skilled tattoo artist, like myself, you can customize your tattoo to match your unique features and preferences.

When you feel good about your appearance, you’re more likely to feel confident in all aspects of your life, from your career to your personal relationships. And with the long-lasting results of Cosmetic and Paramedical Tattooing, you can enjoy that confidence for years to come.

I feel extremely blessed to have a creative outlet, and business, that helps people feel comfortable, confident, and beautiful, in their own skin!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three areas of knowledge that have had the most significant impact on my personal journey and can also be beneficial to others are self-awareness, marketing, and building relationships.

In order to be successful at anything in life, you must be self-aware. You need to know your strengths and weaknesses so you can act/plan accordingly. If you can acknowledge which areas you are weak in, then you can appropriately hire staff that are strong in those areas to create balance in your business.

All entrepreneurs need a firm understanding of marketing principles, because you can be the best at your craft or have the best products, but if no one knows who you are, you won’t be successful.

Lastly, it is imperative that all entrepreneurs learn how to effectively communicate because life is about relationships. Networking and building relationships with people in your community, your field of business, and in your personal life, can catapult your life into your next season. I believe it was T.D Jakes that said, “your next level is attached to a new relationship.” Don’t be afraid to build genuine relationships with other people in your field and don’t forget to find good mentors that can help guide you along the way.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
