Meet Tiphani Hutto

We were lucky to catch up with Tiphani Hutto recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiphani , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

I hold one main deep internal belief: everything happens for a reason. This beliefs has helped me find the lessons in the hard pieces of life, but also helped me to truly bask in the graciousness of the good ones. Even when things do not go my way, when I am kicked and at my lowest, when I am tired of crying and the tears have unwillingly dried, the belief that ‘Everything happens for a reason’ keeps me standing. I know that I can rise above anything put in my path. I know that all the hardships I have endured have made me who I am and all the ones to come will shape me for the better, as long as I am willing to let it. I believe that it’s this line of thought that helps me learn from my set-backs and continues to keep me resilient. Help from the reminder ‘Everything is temporary’ is another major piece of my resilience puzzle. I constantly remind myself that this is all temporary. This moment, this age, this place, and the people around us, they are all temporary and will one day either change, leave, or dwindle away. This is especially so in regards to the hard stuff. Anything that I’ve faced that has been scary or difficult has always been temporary and it took me pushing through that moment in order to get to where I am now, past it. Having the resilience to push through those temporary moments, whether good or bad, is necessary for a fulfilled life. Everything you want is on the other side of your discomfort. Knowing that the discomfort is temporary and worth getting through is key.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am the proud owner of Ellie’s At-Home Pawdicures LLC, a specialty mobile nail care service for pets. Stemming from my own personal experiences with the stress of nail care for Ellie, my dachshund, my goal when opening my business was to bring stress-free , accessible, and affordable nail care options to the pets of our community. Before entering the grooming world myself I experienced the hassle of taking her in and the anxiety of her not being happy. Nail trims are vital for our pets health and comfort, but it’s often put on the back burner because of the stressors surrounding it all. I aim to help take some stress away from both the pet and their parents by coming to you and creating a safe and comfortable space for everyone. There are so many old cats and dogs that struggle to get anywhere, let alone the vet or groomer for a simple nail trim, along with the numerous others who, just like you and I, simply need regular nail care. This is a very niche service and I’m excited to be at the forefront of offering it to my community.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Following my passions, believing in myself, and honing my grooming ability plus knowledge of animal body language are the three things that contributed to me being on the journey I have found myself on. If I hadn’t followed my passions and chased what called to me I would have never began my grooming career. If I had not, I would have never learned how to do pet nail care. Had I not honed my skills and knowledge I wouldn’t have been comfortable to go out and help others on my own. Belief in myself is the biggest one. Starting and running a business is daunting, at least it was for me. But I believed in myself and my ability to do it, and so I did. Henry Ford was right when he said “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t – you’re right”. I am still young, and I am still learning everyday. But something I’ve learned so far is this: listen to your intuition and follow what you are drawn to. If you can’t stop thinking about it, it’s probably something you should be following.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

This is going to sound incredibly cliche. I’m sure even more so after my previous answers. But, it’s only true and I think you should try it. When I feel overwhelmed, and so often I have found this to be true, I meditate. A few years ago I was beginning my healing journey and a big part of this was meditating. My new years resolution: to meditate daily. While I haven’t done it near as much as that year, I found how much it made a difference in my life. It helped center me, calm me, and uplift me. I do not sit in silence and try and think of nothing. This is the fastest way for you to never meditate again. Go to YouTube and look up a 5 minute guided meditation. You’ll see all kinds. Pick the one that you’re most drawn to, whether it’s the title or the picture, doesnt matter. Put in some head phones, sit on a nice cushion or chair and just breathe. Personally, it works wonders. I hope it helps you too if you try.
