We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Titania Hunter. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Titania below.
Titania, we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?
I feel like I have always been a kind-hearted person. A Giver. Doing things for the good. I am a firm believer in God. I know that He is directing me on where I should go. Before my ma passed, she told me that I will make a difference in this world. I want to do exactly that, through my art I want to connect to people. Even on a spiritual level as well as showing them a prophetic word from the Lord.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

ARTIST STATEMENT:
My work brings positivity to light, shows emotion, and human expression, and discusses my Christian faith in a visual form. My passion is to create original traditional & digital paintings that will tell stories, uplift and encourage people. I am a firm believer in God and I plan to continue using all the gifts He has given me. During my creative processes, for some paintings, I plan and gather inspiration. The process of creating confident gestural mark-making while adding and subtracting paint on medium to large surfaces has been my signature style.
Through the study of many styles and forms in painting, I have found that combining abstract and realism is what I want to capture best. I believe in creating something very personal, that has a spiritual and biblical connection, at the same time create something people can connect to and enjoy. In my work, you will find vibrant, bright colors, captivating textures with the use of acrylic mediums, magazine and/or newspaper clippings. Other paintings, are done prophetically. Prophetic art is about showing a message from God through visual imagery. It can be done through paintings, drawings, photography, sculpture, etc.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Firstly, I have to say that being open to exploring different mediums and materials for my paintings has been significant to me. I was introduced to a large variety of them while attending UNC Charlotte. I only used acrylic paint in high school. Now I am creating texture from acrylic mediums, magazines, and newspaper clippings. I can truly see the progression in my work. I am happy that I found mediums and materials that I enjoy using.
Second is understanding that sometimes, we embark on a journey that takes us to a specific destination. There may be times when the road may get bumpy, but we can all get through it. Eventually, that bumpy, rocky road will become easier to drive on. I’ve always known that life is not easy, though we learn as we go. There was a time when I wanted to stop creating art because of particular circumstances in my life. I realized I would’ve been giving up on one of the things I love. My advice is to do what you are LED and CALLED to do.
Lastly, reaching out to artists in my community and online has helped me. Seeing artists’ work, what they create, and the reason behind the artwork. Hearing testimonies about how Jesus saved, healed, and delivered them. Also, meeting brothers & sisters in Christ along the way. I found that impactful in my spiritual walk with the Lord and my art journey.
