We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tj Wimbs a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Tj, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
When I was in 7th grade. We had the President’s fitness test. Pullups was the last thing you had to do. I was the last kid to go because off my last name. So every single kid in my 7th grade class (257) watched me fail miserably and I was so embarrassed . The next day I started lifting weights and never stopped. The gym and the gains and goals, I was able to set and conquer gave me continued confidence and self-esteem.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I stared in and produced a Tv Series in 2022. After I got the bug to write a second season. As I started writing the 2nd season, my imagination just took off and I started creating more side stories, new characters, and a few brand new stories. Since then I have created an entire Universe with three main characters that never meet even though their lives cross paths everywhere. I now have 9 separate stories that intertwine like a shredded wheat biscuit. Some are Movies while others are Tv Series. My current focus is to get my creation to the masses. My goal is to start a Production company and grow from there producing these 9 original stories.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Number one has to be Consistency. I learned this as an athlete. Knowing it’s the only way to achieve greatness in sports. You have to be completely committed daily! Second, hard work or what we call grinding. Sitting around waiting will get you nothing! I believe I learned this skill from my Dad and Grandfather, both Military Veterans.
Next for me would be happiness. As soon as I am not happy. I move on. I refuse to blah through life.
You have to know yourself. What truly drives you. What really makes you happy. Show the Universe with true intent!
If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?
The biggest challenge I face to reach my goal of creating a Movie and Tv Production company is simple, Money! I have the scripts! I’m a seasoned Casting Director and I know who I want for most of the cast. I know the locations and time of year I want to shoot, the cameras I want to use the amazing crew members that I have worked with in the past that have the same drive and commitment I do. I have everything but the capital. You can’t do anything without funding and I’m ready to pitch! I just don’t know whom to speak to on that next level. The level where people with money want to hear original ideas and want to create an something new and amazing. I am completely open to collaborate on my projects. I understand that I can not do this on my own and I want to build a team!
