Meet Todd Fox

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Todd Fox. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Todd, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

My confidence as an artist has been shaped by belief, sustained effort, focus, and achievement. Early in my professional career, I relied on self-belief and perseverance to remain committed to my vision. As I grew personally, my work evolved accordingly, becoming increasingly informed by experience and reflection. Over time, I came to understand that success was reinforced through meaningful connections with collectors, as well as through recognition in the form of awards and accolades. Today, I approach the development of new ideas with confidence, trusting my ability to articulate them through my work.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am a mixed media artist whose work is exhibited and collected through art festivals, galleries, and juried competitions. My practice is deeply inspired by African and Caribbean art and cultural traditions, influences that also inform my personal collection of African art.
My creations are inherently narrative, rooted in lived experience and shaped by allegorical elements drawn from African visual language and symbolism. Each work functions as a personal story—life events interpreted through layered materials, cultural reference, and metaphor.
I continually push the boundaries of my practice, developing and producing new, compelling work while maintaining a cohesive visual and conceptual identity.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The most influential sources of knowledge on my journey have been listening to my inner voice, developing self-confidence, and allowing myself to play—an essential part of discovery and growth.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

When I was eleven years old, I asked my parents for a kiln for Christmas/Hanukkah and they gave me one!
